Lake Fyans Holiday Park
Reviewed January 8, 2013

Have been camping at this park every year for many many years. Love the location, scenery, and relaxed atmosphere. We camp with many other people(up to 40 some years) and have always supported the park by eating in their Bistro, buying from their shop, and continuing to camp there even when there was hardly any water in the lake and other campers went elsewhere. I can accept the obvious lower quality facilities in the unpowered area, the increasing cost of camping there, and the fact that having a camp fire is becoming a thing of the past. However i don't accept the way we were spoken to on a few occasions by a male staff member who was rude, abrupt, and lacking in people skills. Not a great way to run a "family friendly" park.

We hired a campervan and stayed at an ensuite site as we wanted to be close to Halls Gap and the surrounding area. The site is about 20 minutes’ drive from Halls Gap in a great spot next to Lake Fyans. It was quite expensive compared to other sites we stayed at and didn’t feel like good value for money. The ensuite was clean but small. The pitch was short of space and was very close to your neighbours. We also stayed on a powered site for one night and found this more spacious! The amenities block was clean and modern. Not sure we would return to an ensuite site due to lack of space.

We stayed on a powered site over New Year and thoroughly enjoyed this caravan park. Toilets and showers look like they have recently been refurbished and were kept very clean despite the park being very busy. The park has a family atmosphere. There was a live band new years eve which was free for everyone.

We stayed here 3 nights while we were at the Grampians. The holiday park has a nice setting by the lake but is pretty far away from the main centre (Halls Gap) and activities. There are no shops nearby so everything is a 15 minute drive away. The unit itself is pretty decent but is extremely small. We had a 2 bedroom unit. One room had a queen bed with only 1 foot space on each side. No space to even place your bags. The other room had a bunk bed so had a little more room.

The reception while was informative, was not friendly at all. All questions were answered but did not seem very happy with the many questions we had about the area and what we could do.

Next time, I would rather stay at Halls Gap. There are many accomodations but unfortunately most are not online.

My wife and I have stayed here before in 2006 and we weren’t very impressed by our stay, that being said the spot is lovely and tidy. We decided to come back up because the area was fantastic and thought we would have a look at it again.
We were told they had new owners (Darren) who took over around Easter this year. We arrived a week after Easter to get away from the busy period. The park was extremely tidy and picturesque as we remembered but we noticed the friendliness of staff was improved.
It was a much improved experience from previous and glad we gave it another shot because we will certainly be back next year to explore more. We were woken one night because our fire had re-ignited and they assured us it was for guest’s safety to have them out, not to painful when explained.
A quick summary of things we noticed improved, office and reception was clean and polite (welcoming) the amenities were clean tidy and maintained. Work was constantly being carried out which showed they must be trying to improve the park. One thing we both would like to have seen is the bistro open more nights.
8/10 park with potential (would get another mark if I caught some fish this time!)

Room Tip: The weeks after public holidays are best :)

We stayed here with friends over Easter in the un powered sites, the place seems nice place with clean facilities, what i did find interesting was on one night one of the workers arrived at our site asking if everything was OK and if there was any problem with other people making noise or keeping us awake at night, which there wasn't, but i found this a good service to have in place.

We used the camp site as a base to go to Halls gap, a couple of wine tastings and the Stawell Gift, as well as just relaxing around the camp fire.

I would stay here again when camping in the area without doubt.

Its a nice park on the lake with good facilities but it's a bit far away from halls gap. We would try and stay in halls gap next time. The Lady manager 'Karen' is extremely rude, aggressive and overzealous when it comes to night time, particularly in regards to fire drums for hire and will storm through your camp site with little regard for politeness. They have a no dogs policy except for their own which is free to roam! There is also a large cocky population which is extremely noisy round sunset. Overall nice location, extremely rude manager.
