Came across this place when looking for somewhere to break a long trip. Very impressed with queen room with lovely patio onto canal- value for money.
Walking distance to shops etc. Will be back for a longer stay.

We had a gathering of nine couples as part of a reunion. We had previously stayed in apartments at Urunga (near Coffs Harbour) so we were not sure whether this would come up to the same standards. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and the rooms were neat, attractive and appeared to have been freshly decorated. The location is perfect, looking out onto the marina, water virtually outside your door and yachts moored opposite. It is a very short walk to cafes, wines bar, hotels and other shops. Raymond island is a two minute walk to the ferry (free if you are a pedestrian) and the locals were more than friendly. We visited the local bowls club for barefoot bowls and even though most of us were not bowlers we felt warmly welcomed. We were a little concerned about a negative review but having experienced the welcome from the owners and listened to their side of the story (as we left) I would urge everyone to understand that there are always two sides to a story. The owners are warm and obliging (even ringing me to let me know I had left my phone charger behind). If you are looking for a place to relax where you do not need to be in your car all of the time, then I recommend Mariners Cove to you.

Spent two nights at this motel. Great place to stay. Close to shops and ferry. We had a motel room overlooking the water which really suited us. The rooms are typical motel rooms but clean and well equipped. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Paynesville is a very special place to visit, especially Raymond Island and the koalas.

Room Tip: Last motel room in row is very private.

We stayed here for 1 night. We had a motel unit which backed onto the mariner. The room was a good size and the outlook at the back was really nice and relaxing. The only negative would be no internet service. It is a 2 min walk to the ferry to Raymond Island which is free for walking passengers. It takes less than 5 mins to get to the other side. Go on the Koala Trail, it was amazing to see Koalas so close up and we even saw one on the ground making it's way up the tree in someones front garden. There is a good IGA about 5 min walk from the property.
Good walk along the lake.

Room Tip: Get a motel room facing out on the mariner, very relaxing just looking at the water and the boats.

This was our second stay at the motel and while the location is great the rooms really could do with a makeover.

You get a basic room which is clean but the tv is small by today's standard and the bathrooms could do with an upgrade.

I found the service to be very good with no issues of rudeness that had been mentioned in a couple of other reviews. Perhaps how you treat others is how you will get treated yourself. I am sure the staff at accommodation venues have to put up with some terrible behaviour from some patrons.

I still would go back there as I think the location is good... It's just that its not a 4 or 5 star motel so don't expect it for the price.

Having booked a unit rather than a motel room we were very disappointed with our accommodation. The units all look onto the roundabout which is the only way onto the Raymond Island ferry, so are quite noisy and lack privacy. The units are basic, tired and dated and need a lot of tlc to get them up to scratch. We left after 2 nights to stay in far superior, less expensive accommodation very close by.

Room Tip: If you do stay here then maybe consider a motel room which has a much better outlook, but my suggest...

Paynesville was attractive because we wanted to visit Raymond Island to see the koalas, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed.

Our room at Mariners Cove was very big, modern, clean and comfortable. In the morning we walked down to the shops and visited one of the local bakeries. We brought our breakfast back and sat on our sunny verandah to eat while watching the swans on the canal. What a good spot!
