Firstly the boat trip is free if you are pedestrians which is a big plus. Wandering around looking for Koalas and then finding them hidden in the tree tops is really good fun and the island is so quiet and peaceful. One of the residents showed us where to find one of the Koalas and even offered us coffee.

This lovely Island is great to drive or walk around. It has a variety of beautiful bushland filled with Australian wildlife.
Access to Isand is via a punt which offers a lovely visual aspect to Paynesville

My wife and I went on foot by the ferry for a walk and to see the Koalas, which we did. If we went again, we would probably go by bicycle as it is quite spread out.

Raymond island gies you the feeling of being close to nature we took a ferry from Paynesville across to Raymond Island which has no commercial buildings just some house dotted around .Within second of landing on the island we encountered cockatoos rosellas corellas flying around us then as i got out of the car for a closer look my partner spotted a koala with her eagle eye ,We moved on driving down the road which is more like a track and gives you the feeling of exploring as its surrounded by trees on each side of the road again eagle eye was at work she stopped the car suddenly and the in front of us gliding across the road was a tiger snake now i have to admit not being aussie i didnt quite grasp that it was a tiger and as my camera couldnt take a photo from inside the car i decided to jump out and on to the verge on the road to get a picture i could see he getting away in the long grass and wanted get nearer but suddenly i heard a voice ,my partner was shouting get back in the car you--#@*&%$$))-----,or something like that, she then told me it was a tiger snake and it was highly dangerous i looked it up later and found she was telling the truth it was also possible that it had young and they are deadly when they are born she was right again and i didnt get the photo ,anyway swiftly moving on i got to stroke an Echidna and saw another Koala, Kangaroos, This island is just beautiful well worth a visit

Accessible by ferry which adds to it's charm, is this small island that is a conservatory for koalas. Although it's rich in native animals and fauna. Visiting the island for a few hours, we got to see many animals and then a tiger snake. It is a wonderful way for tourists to see a bit of Australia that isn't behind fences.
