While on a drive through the Dandenong's we can across the Pie in the Sky. As it was near to lunch time we decided to park up and have a bite to eat. They offer both a sit in and take away service and we decided to eat in. It does get very busy around lunch time but we were not in any rush and got a table without any wait.

The menu is quite extensive and inventive and the service was great. Not cheap but still reasonable value for money. Well worth a visit.

PIE IN THE SKY is located at 43 Olinda-Monbulk Road and is open daily from 10am till 4:30pm (Mon-Fri) with extended hours on weekends (9:30am-5pm).

Their wide selection of award-winning gourmet pies and freshly baked desserts draw in the crowd at all times of day but they seem much busier around lunchtime and on weekends. Try visiting on a weekday and during off-peak hours if you don't wish to stand in line for too long. Do note that there are separate queues (and also different pricing) for Dine-In & Take-Away customers.

During our 5-day stay in Olinda, we visited PIE IN THE SKY on 3 separate occasions. We ordered the following from the extensive menu (and enjoyed them all): Apple Strudel; Lemon Citrus Tart; Pecan Pie; Pumpkin & Sweet Potato Pie; Spinach & Feta Pie; and Sticky Date Pudding.

We had also wanted to try their Blueberry & Almond Pie but the kitchen didn't have any on both occasions. Apparently everything is freshly made on the premises and some menu items may not always be available.

The wait staff here were generally welcoming and efficient in their service. On all 3 visits, the food and drinks were delivered within 5-10 minutes of taking our order. There was only 1 instance where an item was not served and we had to remind the wait staff to check on our order.

Since I suffer from multiple food allergies, we had to ask our server for the full ingredient listing for selected menu items; she was most patient and understanding in attending to our many queries. We had the same server on 2 visits and this conscientious young lady personally went to the kitchen to check with the pastry chef and even made a trip to the pantry to verify information on the packaging of certain ingredients used. I really appreciated her kindness and the extra effort to ensure that everything we ordered was safe for my consumption.

We thoroughly enjoyed the gourmet pies and delectable desserts here and would surely return for another slice of this PIE IN THE SKY when we next visit Olinda!

Really enjoyed the gourmet pie which was juicy, full of tender meat surrounded by a beautiful light pastry! Yummy! The iced coffee was also a delight. I was there on a sunny Saturday and expected it to be busy around the peak time just after 1pm, so did not mind waiting a little. We got a nice table on the front balcony able to take in the experience of the local village surroundings. The service was prompt and friendly given the amount of visitors there. Obviously, like in any cafe in a tourist place the prices are a little higher than in a local city take away bakery, but worth it.

Packed out with a fair wait for a table. Food took ages to come out after ordering (more than 30 minutes for a pie!). Pie was average, but not terrible. Overall we enjoyed it but wouldn't be in a rush to return.

We were there recently with a group of about 10 people for lunch.
The service was terrible. We waited 45 minutes for our pies!!!!
My piec was $5.50 over the counter. But with a few potato chips on a plate, it was $11.40!
A few of us ordered coffee and they never came.
The pie was nice and tasty, but was too dear.
The service needed a lot to be desired.
When it came to settling the bills, the girl just could not work that out.
