“Overpriced for serving size”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2014

A light Lunch for for two on Friday. One ordered crispy polenta with Mediterranean vegetables. The other sardines. The polenta dish had three polenta chips with standard array of veggies stacked on top. Surprised at the lack of polenta given this seemed to be the focus. Sardines were three halves on toasted French stick slices with a sort of coleslaw between toast and sardine. Both were tasty and if backed up with a main would have been fine.....just seemed too small to have by themselves! Service was excellent although meal was slow to arrive....25 mins plus. Not impressed enough to return....particularly if the young mum and crying child on site.

“Good Restaurant and Service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2014

This a well fitted out small restaurant in a restored bank building. The food was good although fairly standard range on offer from grilled barramundi to duck breast as examples. The starters ranged from pork belly to scallops which is pretty standard but it was tasty. The wine range is adequate and priced reasonably. The service was attentive.

“A credit to Mornington - well worth the visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2014 via mobile

Recently ate here for the first time, having driven past on many occasions. This is a little gem in a wonderful old restored building which was once a bank in Victoria's early days.
From an uncluttered, straightforward and varied menu to a good but not overbearing wine list, to a lovely ambience and GREAT service our experience was memorable. My lamb was generous, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented and my wife's barramundi fillet was well up to the mark.
Desserts were, again, excellently presented, well balanced and perfectly prepared.
The staff have service down to a T - friendly and there when we needed or expected, but unobtrusive.
Well done - this is a lovely local for us and we will definitely be back, perhaps for lunch outside next time.

“Waiting, waiting and more waiting and No Bread”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014

We recently drove from Melbourne for a leisurely Sunday lunch. We had booked this charmingly decorated rustic French restaurant and were eager to order.
We had looked at the menu displayed outside and mentally chosen from the offerings; however they were not on the menu given to us inside. Even when this was brought to the attention of our waitress , the obsolete outside menu still was in situ on our departure.
Offer of water was taken but we waited nearly 30mins before a drinks menu came.
No nibbles or bread was served which is very "un french". We asked for bread but were told that the baker comes in after lunch on a Sunday!!!!!
Again after a lengthy wait, our entrees appeared and were beautifully,if not sparingly prepared..
The oysters were lovely and tasted of the sea, the beef carpaccio was ok but a little lacking in taste. Pork belly was as it should have been ,but no bread to mop up the delicious juices.
Mains were another 45 mins - we were tired of waiting and just wanted to leave and go somewhere else for dessert..
Keeping in mind all this time we and one other table were inside and two tables outside so not very busy. Waiting staff numbered four with another head of house all walking from room to room trying to look busy.
We were just so disappointed as there obviously some talent in the kitchen but huge deficits in organisational abilities and attention to detail really need to be addressed.

“A passionate restaurant !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2014

We had a wonderful lunch in counting house. The restaurant is very cozy and atmosphere is good, service is excellent. We ordered different appetizers and mains(see pics), they are all so fresh and tasty, and the presentation is amazing. Even a cup of cappuccino looks so unique ! We can tell the owner run this restaurant passionately, rather than giving you common things.
