“What's not to like? Another enjoyable stay!”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

First visited this beautiful region and property around three years ago for a conference, so it was nice to come last week without having the burden of work for company! Our escape deal was very good value indeed and included two breakfasts and a dinner, complimentary bottle of wine and visits to local producers.
Room is a good size, clean and very comfortable compared to majority of motels I stay in for work. Views are beautiful and our morning runs with vineyard beside us seemed to give us a bit more energy than normal! Ate one night at the local pub (nice) and second night at Restaurant Merlot. Meals were extraordinarily good ( I had crisp skinned barramundi, wife had polenta) as were the local reds and our fireside port with a trio of desserts in the lounge afterwards. Breakfast both mornings was a reasonably large buffet with some nice selections and a relaxed atmosphere considering how busy this place is. Service all round was just as friendly, warm and welcoming as I remembered it to be.
Was thinking of taking half a star off my rating for Lindenwarrah because there are areas that can be improved on ( bathrooms, couches in rooms), however a quite vindictive recent review doesn't seem to paint an accurate picture of this hotel at all...so from me you get five and yes, we will be back! Thanks for looking after us, special mentions to Grace who worked both reception and restaurant, and Amanda who somehow remembered me from my last visit and caused my better half to raise her eyebrows!!

Dear easydriver2013,

Thank you for staying with us and providing such tremendous feedback!
I'm glad you had the chance to visit us in a leisure capacity this time around, although we do our best to provide our conference delegates with a similarly relaxed experience.
My sincere apologies if I inadvertantly caused your partner to raise her eyebrows, it certainly was a funny moment!!

We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future,

Thanks again and warm regards,

Amanda

Our stay at Lindenwarrah was fassle free. The room was quite large with a view of the sunset as promised. It was a bit cold for a swim but the sauna was satisfactory. We were close to many wineries and we can highly recommend the mustard tasting nearby.

Room Tip: Sunset view room was nice.

First, the good stuff.
Location - excellent. You can walk into Milawa Village or to Brown Brothers' cellar and epicurean complex. Milawa is 30 min from Beechworth; Bright and the King Valley wineries are not much further. Wangaratta, a major city, is not far away.
Restaurant - very good. Classy presentation, good options, strong list of local wines at $60 or less. Breakfast buffet was comprehensive.
Facilities - all you would need. And the grounds are attractive.
Value for money - our package was exceptionally good value for money.
Staff - helpful.
The less good stuff:
The property needs maintenance. For instance, our shower flooded the bathroom, every time we used it, due to a missing piece in the shower frame. Some of the maintenance could be done by a handyman with a basic tool kit. Generally, Lindenwarrah looks a bit tired.

We would go back, because of the good stuff. And Milawa is very central to lots of opportunities.

stayed with another couple over the weekend and was amazed at how dirty the rooms were. The carpets were stained the linen was dirty and dead insects were covered all around the room. We had 2 ask reception 2 vacume our room before we could stay here. The grounds are beautiful and breakfast was good. The place is in need of a really good clean and tidy up. The restaurant was not open on Monday night which was very disappointing as the people staying had no were 2 eat. Over all would not stay here again unless it had a really good clean and overhaul

Arrived on the 22nd of April for a short break in what we thought was going to be luxury accommodation situated opposite our favourite winery. When we walked into our room the only thing we found to be luxurious was the size of the bed (king). The pillows were uncomfortable, the sheets were a little scratchy and the mattress was hard.
The bathroom was far from luxurious or 5 star quality, we have a better shower at home that doesn't leak all over the floor.
Be prepared to have bugs in your room at night. We went out for dinner only to come back and find that our room had been taken over by bugs. They were above the bed, in the bed, in between the pillows, above the window, in the bathroom and along the wall nearest to the tv, fridge etc. Thankfully there was fly spray in the wardrobe which we used to kill them (and it took almost the whole can to kill them all). We heard the ppl across the hall complaining to staff about the bugs they had in their room and they were told it was because the lights were on and the bugs were attracted to the light so they needed to keep the lights to a minimum.
The staff offered to have our bed stripped and made again but we said it was too late as we had already brushed off the bugs and were ready for bed.
After returning the next morning from a visit to Beechworth, we found that our room had been tidied. But the dead bugs were still on the floor, still not the couch, still around the bathroom and still on the table in the room. It was like they had done a quick vacuum in the main area of the carpet and that was it.

Room service was only available from Thursday - Sunday which we found strange as the restaurant was open the nights we stayed.

We have paid less money and got more 'luxurious' accommodation and more value for our money. The only positive thing about this place is its location.
We won't be staying there again and would not recommend it to our family or friends. We would rather stay in Beechworth and travel back for the wineries.

Room Tip: Pay top dollar to be satisfied

Arrived Sunday 6th April, we were upgraded to the Buffalo room which was an upstairs room. The room overlooked the vineyard which was quite beautiful. We found the room very large with beautiful shutters which opened out onto the balcony. I must say that, it would be better if they could provide some decent chairs to sit on, both in the room and on the balcony. The shower has now where to put your soap or shampoo and unfortunately water leaked out all over the floor and saturated the bath mat, very dangerous. The staff were very nice. On the whole a nice place to stay, just needs a little TLC.
