There are not a lot of accommodation options in the Milawa area but it doesn't matter because this charming motel more than meets the need for an impeccably clean, very pleasant and well managed destination, all at an affordable price. We were there over New Years and met the new owners who have the right ideas on what their guests want. Its quiet, has good standard food and even a small pool (much needed in summer in this part of the world). We hadn't been to this area before but its an excellent winery destination. Better still check out EV Olives for an awesome oil and olive tasting!

My wife I and have just returned from a two day stay and are apleasanty surprised at what we found. It has been recently taken over and it is now an outsanding hospitality offering. The rooms are well appointed and absolutely spotless. The room presentation was outstanding to order using the best of local produce only , including farm fresh eggs and beautifully smoked bacon. None of your boxed cereals or plastic packs of vegemite and margarine here , all the cereals and preserves were fresh and well presented , along with teh choice of juices including freshly pressed orange.

Good luck to the new owners John and Rod, this is a motel to be included in your travel plans

The roses were in full bloom and dotted all through the gardens creating a wonderful display when I stayed at this very centrally located motel in Milawa. It is within walking distance to many of the local attractions which I found very handy and just over 2 hours drive from Melbourne too.

My room was spotless and well maintained. A new flat screen TV was installed whilst I was there and further improvements to the rooms and property are in the pipeline, I was advised by the new owners.

The food was very tasty, lovely tender meats and fresh vegetables, they even had freshly squeezed orange at breakfast which is rare now a days.

I will be back.

I have been through Milawa on many occasions, but only recently discovered the Milawa Lodge Motel. My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised. Although the property is in the centre of town, it is set back from the main road, has an attractive appearance, and very quiet. We were delighted from the moment we set foot inside.

The new proprietors, John & Rod are very passionate about their motel and could not have been more welcoming and helpful in every way. The main dining / lounge area was very fresh and inviting with a crackling fire at one end. The ornaments were attractive and thoughtfully placed, in a way that felt comfortable and inviting, as though it was their house. The bedrooms were typical of country Victoria, but perfectly presented. We had a sense that somebody really cared about the little things that matter.

The real treat was dinner. While the menu is not extensive, John, who doubles as the chef, is masterful at producing creative and delicious dinner selections, meticulously presented. Although this region is gaining a well-deserved reputation for gourmet food, make sure you save one night to dine-in, you will not be disappointed.

We have no hesitation in recommending this little gem of a motel, especially when we learned of John & Rod’s enthusiastic plans to progressively upgrade the bedrooms and other facilities. We will certainly be back soon and look forward to making the Milawa Lodge our base as we cycle around and further discover the delights of this wonderful region.

Stayed for one night on visit to check out the food and wine region around Milawa/Beechworth etc.The Milawa Lodge Motel had the most reasonable rates in the area for the mid-week when we were there. The room was meticulously clean and well appointed, the bathroom spotless. For mid-winter, the important things worked well - electric blanket, heating and plenty of hot water! I slept well in a comfortable bed with bedlinen that didn't feel as if it had been washed a thousand times (like some motels). The rooms were quiet, even though the motel is right in town - we were able to walk to the pub for a lovely dinner and all the other shops. We also had a nice brekky at the motel. The owners were lovely and nothing was too much trouble - I would certainly stay there again.

I have stayed at this property on several occasions. The room is basic and you get what you pay for.
What makes this place special is the hosts. They are great. I loved waking up to their beautiful cooked breakfast. If you’re lucky you may even get a wonderful homemade pastry!
The hotel is a very short walk from the pub. They serve good food there and is busy most nights.

This Motel is a beauty ! Only 10 rooms (?). Located in the middle of Milawa, easy walking distance to many wineries, cheese factory, shops and mustard factory. Also an easy walk to the pub for an ale or dinner (book first). It has a pool and a spectacular restauarnt if Klaus is forewarned. He is an excellent chef and does a wonderful brekkie and awesome dinner. You are within easy driving to many wineries, and other fun things. The motel is deceiving to look at from the road, but rooms are large and airy. Simple, but cover all needs. Park at your door. There is a resident dog - very friendly - who can be found roaming the village at any hour. Beds are comfortable and while it is not the "Hilton" it is more than enough for a few nights stay. Dinner (with a local wine), Bed and Breakfast is not that expensive and well worth the trip. My tip - try mid week for the best time - quiet and peaceful.

Room Tip: Ask for Dinner , Bed and Brekkie and go mid-week !
