We stayed for a week and had a very enjoyable time. The accommodation was very nice and had everything we needed for a comfortable 7 day stay. There's plenty to keep the kids entertained, the lake for fishing or canoeing in, and nice long scenic walks to take. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the up-and-down mobile phone/internet reception but, hey, I was on holiday and wanted a break from all of that anyway! I'm more than happy to give this resort a 5 out of 5 rating as we though the accommodation and facilities were great for a family of 5.

If you want to be away from everything this is the place to be. We were not one of these groups of people. There were 5 of us.the resort is a distance from town. The biggest drawback we found was NO internet at the resort you had to drive to town and find a café to get access which we did then we would sit in our car with our laptops in the evening. To go to any of the activities from your unit it is quite a walk not something that you could just have a a couple minute walk to. To go to the pool talking the car is is about 2 minutes. We didn’t use any of the activities that were offered. There was water in the lake so there was boating etc. There was tennis courts, playground, pool etc but were quite a distance from the units.

If you used the barbecues you had to make sure you used them during daylight hours as there was absolutely no lighting unless you used a flashlight/torch to find your way there. The units were little villas with car ports for parking, a deck with lounge chairs. The laundry was in the unit, there was 2 bathrooms large one off the master. There was plenty of closet space, large kitchen area and living room.

Mobile/cell access was limited. As you drove into the resort there were lots of roos to be seen. You needed to have a key to get into the resort area as there was a gate arm so if you had any guests they had to have a key or you would have to go down to let them in.

Overall the unit was well equipped and nice its just the distance to anything that was a pain and that was within the resort and resort to town. The biggest complaint we had was the lack of internet access in this day and age even if it wasn’t in the room at least have it available somewhere at the resort considering the resort is a distance from town.

Hi Canadian_Gwen

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review of Mansfield Country Resort. We are sorry to hear you had issues with the internet during your stay.
The internet connection is 100% reliant on the Telstra tower in the area and like any rural connection it drops in and out. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control.
Some guests have experienced no difficulty at all and others have had difficulty finding a connection. Connection strength will also vary depending on your individual service provider.
We hope this helps to explain the situation a little better for you and we look forward to having you come stay with us again.

We were very upset when we read prior reports and almost cancelled but had prepaid. I rang to clarify and had very positive responses to my candid reference to these 3 poor recent reports. I am not sure what the other people`s attitudes were or what their communication level was, but being a fastidious person, I ONLY had a complaint free visit.
All equipment was newish and worked as intended. All was excellent and happy staff fulfilled even my minor requests eg. bed side lamp had a broken wire and was replaced with a smile within 1 hour. Same for faulty shower rose. That was my total fault list in 7 days
I do not understand how those people were so unhappy.
The trip to Mansfield takes 20 minutes on a sealed road that was so good I could ride my expensive road bike without road or traffic issues. Most enjoyable. 23 km in the bush is minor (and a lovely drive)
How could "Lovvey41 - Nightmare" write that there was "no phone or internet" when we simultaneously used iPads x 2 and iPhones x 2 and didn't even have 1 dropout in 7 days, is beyond me. Then again I am on Telstra and maybe they were on Vodaphone or Optus!?
Surrounds beautifully maintained and I have given up looking for faults!
We will definitely be coming again. Thanks.

We have been RCI members since 1989 and have enjoyed many exchanges to other resorts other than our home resort at the Beach House, Coolangatta. We have always received a warm welcome and caring hospitality from our exchange resorts. Sadly our check-in at Mansfield Country Resort was a cursory quick explanation of how the keys work for the three couples standing at the desk....so not really personal. Our unit, in the third row from the water's edge, looks out onto another very dated red brick unit and a corugated roof. Just occasionally we get a fleeting glimpse of a vessel out on the lake from between the buildings. I'd be really ticked off if we discovered that any of the occupants of the front row of houses were not actually RCI members!
The unit itself is adequate. It is comfortable and fairly clean (except for the frypan which has something burnt to a cinder on its base).Sheets are clean but the synthetic blanket looks very tired. The grouting at the base of the shower unit has parted company with the wall. The electric kettle will only work if switch is held down. The exterior garbage bin for our unit was nearly full and quite smelly when we arrived on Friday. Today is Wednesday and it still hasn't been emptied, so my guess is that maintenance is not up to scratch.
I think this place would be fine for those who just want to fish or water ski. For us, the long journey down from Queensland was hardly worth the effort. In fact we stayed at a caravan park in Beechworth on the way which was far friendlier, cleaner and better maintained, and with a far more efficient use of space, in peaceful surroundings. We live in the country, so the 23 kilometer trek out from Mansfield is no drawcard for us. It is just another inconvenience. We have visited Jamieson, Kevington, Howqua Hills, Bonnie Doon, and tomorrow, Mt. Bulla. So we have enjoyed exploring the surrounding countryside. It's just that the resort is awfully ordinary......nothing special in our book I'm afraid EXCEPT for the wildlife..... sulphur-crested cockatoos, Eastern rosellas, kangaroos etc.

I dont know how this would make the rci list of resorts. Day 1, met by a rude lady receptionest that was cranky that we turned up early, all of 15mins, she made us wait untill 4pm on the dot untill she would give us the keys, even though our booking sheets had a 2pm book-in time. Our booking was for 6 people in private, we were given a 2 bedroom unit with a broken fold out couch, when we brought this up with reception they said they knew all about the divan and didnt think we would notice? The rooms seem clean and well serviced at first glance, but if you want to use the supplied toaster and kettle at the same time, it will blow a fuse? when you open the dishwasher the racks inside are rusty, there is no phone or internet reception, the water pressure in the showers is a dribble at best. We also spent a day without water, yes in the peak bushfire season, you turned on the tap and nothing came out, so no toilet, showers, cooking ect. for that day. Part of our party didnt last the week and went home 3 days early. Mansfield is a nice spot with alot to do, just dont stay here when you go.

Traded in rci points for a week away, rooms basic but clean and quite a few outdoor activitys for kids, that of course is if you can stand the dreadful sewerage smell, and no phone or Internet service. On leaving the resort we received a phone call to say we were going to incur a 100.00 cleaning fee to clean our room as we had left a few dishes in the sink (2plates) and a few things in the fridge, we already pay via rci cleaning fees and last time I checked staff are payed by the resort to clean rooms and that is what our fees are for?, we complained that this was unreasonable and we met with rude staff who apparently believe you are supposed to clean your own room???? As we travel almost every second weekend I would almost put this down as our worst experience with accomodation ever. So if you like accomodation where you can smell sewerage, have no phone or Internet service and want to clean your whole unit upon leaving then this is the resort for you, but with heaps more accomodation in the area I know what I would choose!!
