“Perfect Stay at Hollyhock”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

We spent a weekend at Hollyhock and everything was perfect starting with the very warm welcome by owner Chris. Spotless accommodation, very comfy bed in a room with a view of Mt Macedon. Fabulous breakfast - fresh orange juice, fruit, muesli, bacon, eggs and all the trimmings - not to mention the homemade sourdough bread and jam! Yumm! Chris is an outstanding host - so much energy, always helpful and also great for a fireside chat!

We booked Hollyhock B & B based trip advisor reviews and once again we were not disappointed. Chris the host is a wonderful caring lady. We stayed one night for the Springteen Concert at Hanging Rock 31st March. Beautiful clean room, comfy bed, great cooked breakfast, juice and terrific coffee and fantastic bathroom. Just perfect place and perfect host. Thanks Chris !!!!

We spent 2 nights here over Easter LWE. Had a fantastic stay and were made most welcome. Room was spotless and had every amenity - King bed, spa en suite, new TV heating etc. Breakfast was a big spread of home cooked bacon and eggs and great coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner Chris. Macedon has some great places to eat including the local Mt Macedon pub. Plenty to see in the surrounding country and towns. Do yourself a favour and book a weekend away at Hollyhock - only an hour from Melbourne.

Room Tip: Ask for the room down the back.

We had a wedding in the area and took all three rooms. It was a very good decision as it turns out. Chris was an affable hostess who went beyond the call of duty in making us feel comfortable and settled in. She even did our ironing for us before the wedding and that is something we have never seen anywhere before!!!

Breakfast was relaxed and at a time that suited us. The orange juice was actually freshly pressed, the menu had something for everyone including mushrooms and spinach with the eggs and bacon and the whole stay quite wonderful. Our rooms were beautifully appointed with flowers and chocolates in the rooms on arrival. Everything about the place suggested an eye for detail and a commitment to making the client's stay as restful as possible.

All in all a wonderful stay and we would certainly go back.
Thanks Chris!

What a welcome: two lovely dogs and the lady of the house. Beautiful house, room and bathroom. Our daughter was supposed to share a bathroom with us, as she did not want to go through our room, she was offered to share the private bathroom.
The breakfast was the best we had in Australia. Fresh fruit salad prepared just for us with mango, berries and more. Of course, cereals, toast, jam. Even our daughter could not finish a huge plate of delicious eggs, bacon, spinach, tomato, mushrooms...
We came as guests, we had the feeling we left as friends. Our only regret: we would have liked to stay longer.

We stayed here on the spur of the moment. After a quick decision to head to the Macedon area, we booked Hollyhock and certainly weren't disappointed. We arrived at 7;30, Chris asked if we had eaten, which we hadn't. She asked what we would like and booked us a table at a local restaurant after showing us to our room. We had a spa room which was just lovely and very comfortable.
The next morning we went for a walk, the people of Macedon were so friendly stopping to say hello, one couple even offered for us to go onto their property to look see the mountain views, when we commented on the beautiful views not realising it was their property, as they were walking along the road.
Breakfast was spectacular, absolutely delicious, best pancakes we have had! Chris is not only a wonderful cook, but also a great host, very friendly and a wealth of information and very helpful.
We would definitely stay here and explore the town a little more and once again experience the hospitality provided by Chris at Hollyhock.

Room Tip: Bring your smile and be ready to say hi as you walk up the odd hill or two, Take your runners or co...

After being to the Rod Stewart concert the night before and looking around the Hanging Rock area we recognised we needed to find some accommodation for the night. I happened across Hollyhock B/B and after making a call Chris she hurried and made ready the property for us. (very accommodating) Like most places in the Hanging Rock area she had been busy with the Rod Stewart concert and people staying in the surrounding accommodation. Chris is such a welcoming and lovely host and although the B/B is at the end of her home the accommodation is very private. The room is romantic, relaxing and simply gorgeous. You cannot go pass this accommodation for that romantic night/nights. Here it is 8 months later and I still think back to wonderful Hollyhock B/B, even though we have stayed in others since.
