We chose this hotel for a meal and certainly weren't disappointed. We LOVED the Seniors selections and had 2 full sized serves for $17 each!! Fantastic value! The meals were nutritious, bistro style, served with a smile and it's a place I wouldn't hesitate in recommending.

When everything else is full this venue is large enough to cater for the holiday crowd. With some reservation we decided to have breakfast at the Esplanade. Service can either be inside or outside enjoying the passing traffic in the sun. This was a pleasant surprise and well worth taking a chance. The venue is good for small and large groups including families. A number of other places in the town would be unable to provide adequate space without experiencing crowding for larger groups wishing to breakfast together. Good value and a detailed menu with friendly staff doing whatever was required to keep the hearty appetites of the locals and beach visitors happy.

We were looking forward to a good night out, friends, satisfying food then downstairs to see a great local band. But two out of 3 was all The Esplanade could offer :( The menu was limited and the food was bland. 3 of us had the seafood pasta which lacked any flavour & the large amount of liquid remaining in the bowl, resembled oily dishwashing water! When we mentioned our disappointment to the waitress (who was very obliging) she came back saying YES the chef agreed, he had forgotten to add a few ingredients !! A full priced hefty bill was still delivered. Oh well, disappointed locals won't return :(

The play area was a big hit with our kids, and the atmosphere was good. No complaints there.

The waitress forgot the drinks we ordered with our meal and had to be reminded. Kids meals were served 30 minutes ahead of our meals, so by the time we got our food, the kids wanted to be up and playing again.

Chicken mignon ordered from the specials board where it was described as being served with sweet potato mash. It was served on regular potato mash. Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to erase the word "sweet" from the specials board if they'd run out. Chicken was fatty, vegetables were sparse.

Fish and chips were described as being served with homemade tartar sauce. Waitress informed us when delivering meal that tartar sauce was available from the condiment bar. There was none accompanying the served meal. Just seems like poor form.

Not the worst meal of my life, but would never go back. Meals were overpriced for what was delivered, discrepancies between menu and plate were annoying, service was spotty and food wasn't memorable.

I have given it a few chances but it is very poor
As for the staff in the sports bar the young blokes need lessons on how to be polite
