Yes we had a disaster in our hands on this beautiful saturday we decide to go to lunch to the Healesville hotel we have been here a few times and while we notice the quality has gone down little by little in each of our visits we decide it to give it one more try but unfortunately the restaurant was booked for a function so while disappointed we thought we eat in the bar shoking and horror starting with the service and the food was uneatable the three dishes we order one a side of backed pumpkin and pork belly and the other some cheese were absolutely burned and dry the pork belly had been recycled for at a week.
I could go on but its too sad no point complaning (it was only $85 with wine) with two young staff as they had enough trouble taking the orders.
I real disaster

Hi Tony - let me please assure you that your comments are noted. A little hard to follow exactly but we'll work through it. I will however assure you that the pork belly certainly has not been recycled for a week. Happy to discuss in person Tony if you would like to call me I'm more than happy to discuss in full.
Kind regards Michael

We thought we would just try our luck with accommodation when we arrived in Healesville and we got lucky at the Healesville Hotel. If you are happy to share a bathroom you will love the big cosy rooms with old pub charm. Beautifully presented with plunger coffee and comfy bed. We stayed on a Monday night and it was quiet. On checking out the owner got out a map and highlighted places of interest and made suggestions including to take the drive to Warburton to see the real Yarra River - which we did and were not disappointed.

We are pleased you had a pleasant experience. We have retained the classic country hotel feel of this hundred year old building with lots of specials touches which I am glad you enjoyed!

A gastro pub with decent lodgings. There's something innately cosy about padding up a carpeted staircase to your room in a glorious old pub after a drop of yarra valley sparkling in the bar below. Fresh flowers and oil burners in the shared bathrooms reveal the owners' penchant for romantic country styling-no doubt expressed more fully in the hotel's sister property, Furmston house. Unexpected touches like proper plunger coffee, robes and generous king bed validate the $120 a night price tag, sans breakfast or ensuite. Wouldn't want to pay any more than this, though. Would have liked access to a guest lounge, as well as some coffee table reading material. Ideal for a one night stay for this solo traveller.

Room Tip: The hotel is right in the main street of Healesville, so expect some traffic noise, especially durin...

We dined on a weeknight and found the food very ordinary, nothing like we expected. Just standard pub grub, dry chicken, over-done Haloumi, and an entree arriving with the main. May be great on a weekend but don't bother during the week.

It is disappointing to hear of your negative experience at the hotel. Our kitchen does work hard to consistently deliver a high volume of high quality food on all our menus, we focus on free range& locally sourced produce on all our menus but in your case we obviously fell well below standard. We receive plenty of positive feedback on our midweek menus as well as specials we offer each day BUT it is always very disappointing to hear of a bad experience and it is always taken very seriously. Having your food come all at once does bring to our attention a failure in our bar staff to effectively take an order and highlights an area in which we are going to focus on training. We are also reviewing customer care systems to ensure that issues such as yours are addressed while you are still at the hotel and we avoid people leaving disappointed. Sincerely Kylie Balharrie

Took a spontaneous grand final weekend trip to Healesville and decided to spend the night here.
Lovely room for a country hotel (just as long as you're not the sort of person that needs an ensuite).
I did need to use the earplugs because there were some rowdy folks about town following the grand final, but I was just really glad that the hotel had provided them.
Loved the pub dinner.

We are very pleased you enjoyed your recent stay at the hotel. The rooms upstairs are classic in style, we love the pressed metal ceilings, they certainly speak of a bygone era … it is perfect to be able to have dinner and then just wander upstairs to bed!

Four of us dined in the 'pub' section of the hotel last night. Despite ordering meals at the same time and the lovely waitress giving us cutlery aeparately and stating clearly that both couples were on the same table, two meals came out only after the other couple had completely finished. (20 minutes difference. ) When we voiced our displeasure and suggested compensation perhaps by a coule of glasses of their obscenely expensive wine may be in order, we were denied them. We asked for the Manager who spent 10 minutes telling us we were out of order as steak and fish take different times to cook and we had paid separately. This is from a venue with an Age good food chef's hat! When we advised him that any local pub can manage it, I was accused of being aggressive.

It wasn't until he was told that I run a local winery tour business and continually recommend them as does my wife with her business, and that the second lady also ran her local business and that she was a member of the local Chamber of Commerce that he softened his approach.

It wasn't about the complimentary drinks it was about the hotels systems and appalling attitude of the Manager that has prompted this my first negative Trip Advisor review.

The food was OK, the wait staff excellent, but the treatment of customers was terrible. No more recommendations and booking from me to my extensive clientele for this venue.

After explaining that even

Following on to this feedback I have spoken with Geoff at length about his experience and worked through the issues. Our manager Camm has also been addressed and as owners we are very disappointed that he was not able to bring Geoff’s complaints to a positive end on the night. We have worked long and hard over the last twelve years to build this business and the human resource side of the business is always one of the greatest challenges and we will continue to strive to improve our operations.

Post the Christmas over eating,This was a good place for a days outing for a light family lunch. A good selection.in the bar area. Very busy, but the service and choice was more than adequate. Very child friendly. Unsophisticated, noisy but fun for he children. Will try and get a table in the garden next time.
