My first stay in a hostel for a few years and couldn't have been happier. Great kitchen with near complimentary coffee (20c) and all the utensils, pans, etc you'll need. Never overcrowded even at peak dinner/breakfast time.
The quiet sitting areas either side of the kitchen were a godsend, my partner and I having one room to ourselves with a bottle of wine (or three) and a roaring log fire. Tres Romantique!
Room was quiet but perfectly adequate with a second door that opened to the garden and five steps from where our car was parked and our bikes securely locked. The TV room seemed to double as a 'kids room' while we were there, so we avoided that, but really not an issue at all.
Halls Gap itself could do with a few more vegan options as far as dining out is concerned (even the vego pies had milk on them) so we went a bit hungry when away from the hostel but a nice spot to sit and have a coffee or gorge yourself on retro lollies.
Great time to visit too - rainfall keeps the tourists to a minimum and the waterfalls in full flow. :)

This YHA was excellent to stay at, my boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights in a double room and found it had really great facilities and everything we needed.

It had great shared facilities such as two large kitchens, two large living areas with fire places as well as a tv room with multiple couches. We didn't have the best weather with a fair amount of rain and it was still really enjoyable due to the large living areas which were really clean and comfortable. Had a good atmosphere and environment for meeting new people due to the kitchen/dining area being open and used by everyone.
The kitchen had heaps of utensils so we didn't need to take anything in except for our food, there were two large fridges for storing your food as well as locker boxes and everything was well organised by labelling your own food with provided stickers.

Added bonus of it being a great eco lodge with sensor lights in some places, solar panels, stickers everywhere reminding you to turn off lights when they're not in use as well as water taps.

The rooms had a heater and fan to accommodate for all kinds of weather which was also handy.

Reception was only staffed from 5pm to 9.30pm but we found that was sufficient as we were out most of the day. Reception also had a huge choice of DVDs that could be borrowed for hiding in at night or if the weather turns bad.

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies which is a nice touch in warmer weather

My boyfriend and I were looking for clean & affordable accommodation offering kitchen facilities and came across YHA Eco. We just wanted to get away from the city buzz for a weekend. Upon arrival, Stu and Rebecca were very helpful. They gave us all information we needed from tours, easy walks and must see places. They showed us all facilities and were very approachable when we had any questions. The room was very clean and had everything you needed. I just loved the mix of people that stayed there, families with little babies, backpackers, a school group and domestic tourists. They offer 'free eggs' from their chickens. There is an amazingly large kitchen & common areas are spacious too. We ended up spending more time in the hostel sitting by the fireplace reading books and playing board games than going hiking / rock climbing :) If you're looking for a party place than this isn't for you. Thanks Stu and Rebecca for making it such a great experience - keep up the good work!!

Stayed here on the weekend. Was originally going to book 1 night and decided on booking 2 nights...............wow I am glad I did as there was so much to do in the Grampians - Rock Climbing, more walks than you can poke a stick at (for all abilities), loads of native Australian animals to see (all in the wild), Quad Bikes - and this is only a few of the activities available!!

The accommodation at YHA Grampians is first class - amazing and well stocked kitchen, loads of DVD's/board games to keep you occupied, SUPER SUPER CLEAN and has an amazing/comfy/cozy atmosphere about it.

I have to give a special mention to the managers Stu and Rebecca, they were really helpful, made us feel right at home and I can honestly say that if they were not there our stay wouldn't of been as good!

What a fantastic hostel - stayed as part of a block booking of Morris dancers and the facilities were superb. Spacious but also cosy communal areas, great kitchen facilities and excellent bedrooms. The herd of kangaroos occupying the rear lawn was a bonus! For the energetic amongst you, don't miss a walk up to The Pinnacle and the night skies are a joy for astronomers like me.
