Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park

Stayed there in our motorhome. Place promotes the wildlife experience but has dogs running around scaring native animals off. Also not really on the lake but below the dam wall with no easy access to the water and no views. Also boggy and waterlogged sites. Advise you stay in the park near town. This park is a few km from town.

I stayed at the Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park for 2 nights at the end of a 2 week road trip, and it was the perfect last stopover. Josephina and Rohan are the perfect hosts - as soon as I arrived I felt so welcome! Josephina is great for a chat and a laugh - their reception has the most welcoming feeling.

The park itself is the product of a lot of hard work - and it shows. There's happy people walking around every where, and lots of waves and smiles. There's no doubt I chose the right park, and I would encourage all to have a look at this option when considering Grampians accommodation.

The cabin itself had everything I need, was very clean, great shower and a comfortable bed. My cabin overlooked the valley of Halls Gap where the wildlife came and went - it was wonderful to watch them from my deck after a long day exploring the Grampians. I also had morning guests in the form of cockatoos to greet me, which was a special treat. They've got the balance of camping and nature right here - it's just wonderful. Thanks again to all the staff - I look forward to coming back and staying again soon.

Room Tip: A must is to get a cabin overlooking the valley and the wildlife.

Had a lovely stay - great surroundings, very peaceful, Josephina & co very helpful, amenities terrific. The kids particularly loved the dogs! ...And the cockies. ...And the rosellas. Oh, and the pool was a hit too. Come to think of it, the lucky dips went down pretty well... And the trampolines got a fair bit of use... And they liked the kookaburras! (Is there room to mention the chupachups hidden at the bottom of the cabin's linen bags??)

Keep up the great work!

Mike, Jessie, Aretha and Huon (Port Noarlunga, SA)

Room Tip: The cabins are great value. Our kids loved the triple-decker bunk!

We recently stayed for five nights in a Budget Conscious 1-BRoom Cabin and then stayed another four nights on our way back from Melbourne, treating ourselves to the immaculate Modern 2-BRoom Superb Cabin. We loved everything about Lakeside. Our 3 year old son had a great time whether on the trampolines, in the heated pool, on the playground, toasting marshmallows over a fire, or feeding the cockatoos. We loved the quiet, views, wildlife, clean facilities, pool, leather couches and open fire in the communal area (where we could relax while doing our washing in the neighbouring laundry), the coffees available at reception, and the fabulous shop selling a delightful range of local and European sourced toys and gifts.

However the x-factor is the friendly personalised service. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt genuinely welcomed by Josephina and Rohan. We were grateful when on a particularly rainy day they lent our son a bag of toys to help keep 'cabin fever' at bay.

We have stayed previously at the main caravan park in the centre of Halls Gap but Lakeside exceeded all our expectations. We wanted a quiet getaway with a wildlife experience and plenty of things to keep our son happy. We got that and a lot more. We will definitely be back.

It was very cold and wet early August but the huge open fire, flat screen and leather lounges in the recreation room made it just wonderful and cosy! ..... [The fire was kept going almost all of the time.]

- I made very good use of the very clean and well equipped camp kitchen, cooking meals ahead of time because it was too foggy and misty to do any mountain top sight seeing.

We would love to stay again, perhaps when the weather is a bit warmer. The relieving managers and Michael at reception were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We stayed in our own campervan but the cabins looked very nice.

This was our last stop in our week long camper van trip through the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians back in June. This was the only campground we came across that would stay open a bit later so that we could check in! (we appreciated this greatly after arriving a few hours too late at a place in Geelong, having the owner answer then proceed to tell us we were an hour too late and check in was closed then slam the door in our faces... this then lead to a cold night on the side of the road.) We spent our first night in our camper and our second night in one of the cabins. We took full advantage of the fire pits, amazing kitchens and BBQ's. The bathrooms were cleaner / nicer than most of the hotels we stayed in during our trip. Our group (being half from Canada and half from Sweden) also really enjoyed the wildlife, lots of kangaroos and birds! Definitely our favourite stop along our trip and I would recommend this place to everyone! If I have the chance I will definitely go back.
