“Good regional pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2014

Good food, reasonably priced, you probably won't go home hungry. Desserts a bit ordinary, but mains are excellent. Kitchen has restricted hours, don't wander in at 8:30 expecting to start dinner. But that's not how the Grampians works anyway - early to bed, early to rise to get out into the magnificent mountains.

“Good food - poor service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2014

Came in for Sunday lunch. The restaurant wasn't too crowded but there were plenty of people there. The food options were excellent with some very tempting daily specials. Serve yourself buffet meant you could really pile up your plate making it good value for money. The only downside was the service from one particular staff member. The emo kid behind the bar needs to go and find a job he likes. He was sullen and abrupt to the point of being downright rude. We were not the only customers to receive this treatment. We witnessed another customer being treated poorly with curt and condescending responses given to questions. Come on! this is a tourist town. If you are unable to give customer service then go work somewhere else. Management should move him on.

“Unexpectedly good!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2014

Expectations weren't high when we pulled into car park - it looks like a spartan cafe rather than a hotel restaurant. The decoration is basic with formica tables in a large space and there is no table service. You order food at the counter and are given a 'buzzer' unit to let you know when it is ready to collect at the same place.Salad and veg are at a buffet counter nearby. Drinks are sold at the separate bar.
However, the food was excellent.Good quality kangaroo and salmon cooked very well and decent veg made this excellent value. Not one for an atmospheric meal , but for very good food at a good price it trumps anywhere else in Hall's Gap.

“Open at 6!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2014

When it says it opens at 6... it opens at 6. Not a minute before! That explains why there's a playground outside (the doors don't open until 6). There's then quite a line up of people wanting to get in and get a table at 6. Kids menu with the usual offerings and standard bistro food. Reasonably quick service and plenty of seating for families.
