“Better than Melbourne zoo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

We felt sad after visiting Melbourne zoo so were slightly apprehensive about going to halls gap zoo. We loved it, it is small you can get quite close to the animals the nocturnal display was excellent we hadn't seen a bilby before. The enclosures are very clean. Buy some food only $1 a bag the deer are over friendly beware but kids would love it. One deer followed us around even after the food ran out, he was like our own personal zoo guide. We then went to the next enclosure to be greeted by turkeys and wallabies. Then to our surprise when we entered the next area our deer friend was back he ran all the way around knowing we would come out at the next gate. This zoo is very important for wildlife conservation it feels like the animals are put before profit.

Loved the natural aspect of the zoo...so not overcommercialized like most. A lovely walk. Friendly although somewhat persistent Deer. One on one meerkat time and chameleon time was awesome.
