Having stayed in the Redgum cottage as a couple 6 years ago we always said we wanted to return. After coming back to Australia after being home in Scotland for a few years we finally made it back at the start of April, this time with 2 of our friends (who live in New York) and stayed in the Stone cottage. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and were definitely delighted to be back. Friendly owner and the cottage was amazing! Great setting and views and bbq facilities were all you could ask for. Had a great night in the cottage and our friends did too. Would definitely recommend the cottages to anyone!

My husband & I recently stayed at the Pioneer Cottages located in the Grampians. As soon as we arrived to the property we immediately felt relaxed. The view is spectacular, and the property itself was a dream with kangaroos right in your backyard giving you that fresh country air feeling. The cottage itself was very cosy with a wonderful open fire place and that country cottage feel. The one thing that stands out is how wonderfully clean the cottage was, even though it was an old style design (rather than modern) it was very well kept and maintained, not a dust mite to be found! Greg (the owner) is so lovely and warm, he made us feel most welcome and we will definitely come back.

So good to hear you felt immediatly welcome & relaxed Mary. There's a warm welcome waiting for your next holiday too. Perhaps next time we'll see your mountain bike on the trails around here.
I'll pass on your praise for cleanliness to the Cleaners, we really value their pride in quality workmanship. Thankyou.

Stayed in the mud brick cottage and loved the fireplace and spiral staircase. The uniqueness of the cottage is fantastic, I especially liked the newspaper covered wall with so many interesting clippings. Very clean and includes everything needed; cooking utensils, hairdryer, electric blankets etc. Lovely place to stay with great views, privacy and kangaroos roaming in nearby paddocks.

Thankyou for your review. We're happy to hear you enjoyed 'reading' the wall. One elderly gentleman was excited to discover a very old article on a greyhound he used to follow at the track.
We look forward to seeing you next time you're out from the UK, there will still be plenty of kangaroos & emu's entertaining you with their usual antics.

Amazing place! Peaceful, beautiful sights, friendly service at the office. Overall, great weekend, very relaxing. Would recommend to couples and family. Kitchen was stocked with all basic/useful utensils. Even the fire place was prepped and ready to start a fire. BBQ area was also a great setup, late tables facing the mountains and kangaroos lounging.

We just arrived home from our first ever trip to the Grampians and we feel very lucky to have come across the Pioneer Cottages. Perfect location, being set on a large property where you feel like your miles from anyone else... But everything you want to visit is just around the corner. (It's accessed via a rather short, very well kept gravel road but we think that being off the bitumen is a plus). The views are spectacular... and there's plenty of wildlife to watch either from inside in front of the cosy wood fire (through the large picture windows), or while strolling around the property. My husband and I found it very relaxing and the kids had a great time exploring and also feeding the resident chickens! The unique cottages, built by the owner largely from recycled building materials have such a great feel and are such a pleasant change from the mass produced 'cottages/cabins' you'll find elsewhere.
We can't wait to go back some time soon. Thanks Greg and assoc.!

Thankyou Watt0s for your great review.
The kangaroos aren't just hanging around your cottage today but they're still active & loving the fresh grass. The emu's were hanging around the Guests in the Redgum Log cottage this morning much to their delight,
See you next time, Greg

My son and I spent a few days in the log cottage, and we left wishing we could stay. The peace and tranquility envelopes you from lying in a hammock between the trees, getting to know the wildlife, to relaxing in front of a log fire at night. With a lovely zoo, the local pub, and lots of interesting shops nearby, there is plenty to do, without compromising the beautiful setting of the cottages. And the owners are lovely too!

It was hard trying to find accommodation that would suit a family with 3 children, all teenagers, 2 boys and 1 girl but we eventually did and what a wonderful stay it was.
We headed there after work from Adelaide on a Friday and arrived at midnight. Linen was left for all our beds making it a lighter trip. The beds were comfy and when we woke on the Saturday morning we were welcomed by a view of lots of kangaroos surrounding the cabin. The fire was stoked and ready to light and although the days were warm, it was just cool enough to light the fire each night and cook marshmellows. My 13yo daughter loved the job of letting out the chooks and helping with their feed. Most of our days were spent out on hikes throughout the Grampians but it was so nice each night to come back to a lovely homely accommodation. The Serenity walk was great fun in the dark with the kids, a bit of relaxation on the hammocks mixed with a fun game of Spotlight!
It was great being next door to the zoo and unusual to see the massive byson over the fence!!
We stayed in the redbrick cottage which was lovely. The log cabin had the best position and was so quaint, but not big enough for our family. The stone cottage also has a great outlook at the mountain and loads of roos..
Overall, it was a great experience with great hosts, thanks Greg. The only negative we had was that we werent expecting the 2km badly corrogated dirt road to the property, but that was because we were driving a brand new car, any other time it wouldnt have bothered us..
Thanks again :)

Room Tip: We stayed in the redbrick cottage which was great.. The shower was excellent by the way!! We think...

Thankyou for your review Trish & Chris.
You guys certainly fit a lot in during your stay, it's fortunate you could rest so well in between so much action.
Now I understand why your car looked so clean, it was new! I suspect the Council have been waiting for a rain to damp the gravel before grading again, they're normaly on the ball around here. In case anyone is concerned it is an all-weather gravel road.
I'm still laughing at the kids spotlight prank :-)
We're looking forward to seeing you next time.
Cheers,
Greg
