“Everyone should stay here and support eco hostels!”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

Small hostel but very cosy! Tim runs his hostel with passion, you can see that straight away. I love the fact that everything is eco. Water in showers. He has a garden with potato's and all sorts of other veggies and herbs. Which you can take for free. We had a double room and stayed for 2 nights. Rooms were clean, as the rest of the hostel. Basic, but what more do you need? It is located close to the stores in Halls Gap. And just a few minutes drive to some nice sights in the Grampians. In the morning and evening you can see wild kangaroos in the back yard.
Everyone should go here and support eco tourism!

Whilst climbing at Mt Arapiles we were recommended to stay at Tim's Place. A great recommendation as it turned out. Tim runs the place with the passion of an independent owner. We had a good short, two night stop before moving on. Tim said Kangeroos can be seen on the back lawn, but no luck! In fact we have been in Australia for twelve days and still no sign of 'Hoppy'. Not your fault Tim. Thanks for a great place to rest up. See you in Scotland.

Alan and Sue

Room Tip: Our double was great, thanks.

The double room that we stayed for 2 nights was actually a room with 4 beds. It's quite clean. The owner is very friendly and helpful. You don't need to go to the the Visitor's Office. Just ask Tim. Behind Tim's Place, there is a field where wild Kangaroos can be easily seen. Tim's place is very close to some of Halls Gap walking tracks. We would definitely come back again. The only downside, there is only one shower.

This Place here in Halls Gap is a little paradise full of peace. Tim handles with every guest individually and explains you everything you have to explore in the grampias nationalpark. The Hostel is very clean - the same like the kitchen. Thanks again and we are coming back 2014 to visit you, the kakadoos and all the kangaroos!

We came to this place after a stressful week. It was paradise. Kangaroos and Kookaburras on the lawn, spotless shared bathrooms and toilets, immaculate comfy bedroom. The perfect add-on for us Germans: Central heating, cosy thick duvets and extra blankets! Towels, tea, coffee, cooking utensils and spices and mountain bikes were provided for free as well as a range of books and movies, a guitar and sports equipment. Every night a bonfire was prepared outside which we missed out on though because we were drop dead tired. A barbeque area and free wifi throughout the hostel was available as well. In addition, Tim helped us a lot with organizing our daily tours and made sure we put in all the major sights. Some of the best hotels start right behind the hostel. Nothing more one could wish for, we will return for sure.

As so many, I came here for a week end and ended up staying a month... You are just surrounded by the relaxed, great, homelike vibe of the hostel and the tiny town of Halls Gap. With free coffee, tea and wifi you can spend your day just relaxing in the hostel yard. And when your fed up with sitting crab a free bike or go for a hike. Normaly you'll also meet great people and some how everybody just seems to melt to a big family at Tim's. There is that something there!

Kitchen and all bathrooms and showers were perfectly clean and so were rooms. Clean linen and TOWELS were provided without extra cost!

Tim feeds birds on the yard so you have a great oppourtunity to see cockatoos, other parrots and blue wrens for exemple. Kangaroos also visit the yard regularly. And if you dont see them hopping on your door step just walk to the oval behind the hostel and you'll see a bunch of them. Guaranteed daily!
