“Seamless stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2012

Our family of 4 stayed in the 2 br apt Sep 5- 9. We were delighted overall from the moment we booked online. Michelle from reservations team assisted with ski rental etc & was an absolute delight to deal with. Very easy parking for arrivals & departures. Rental & lifts out the back door virtually. We enjoyed dinner at the Alta restaurant, with delicious food and fantastic service.

My hubby & I stayed at the Quay West Resort in early September and were fortunate to get upgraded to a 3 bedroom suite on arrival. Rooms were great, location was great, and the Alta restaurant was delicious. We also really enjoyed the breakfast service - food was good and the staff were friendly and efficient. The only downside is the beds are a bit hard. We usually stay at one of the lodges, but it was definitely worth the extra $$, and will be coming back in future.

We checked in to a two bedroom spa room. The room absolutely stunk of smoke and was quite dark and dingy. I complained to the very friendly reception staff who came up immediately to investige the smell. They agreed it was unacceptable Especially as we were traveling with a new born and a toddler. After 20 mins the manager came up and helped us mover our luggage to and upgraded room which was lovely. This was the second time we have stayed here as the location is great especially when kiting with small children. The rooms were not serviced all that well but you get used to this in most ski resorts due to the transient nature of the work force.

There are a umber of fundamental design faults in the building. The doors don't close in some of the bedrooms as the rooms are too short to hold a bed. The spas on the balconies have absolutely no privacy and living rooms of neighboring rooms look into the bedrooms. These would be serious problems if you were staying for a long time but for a short time and with family it does not effect your stay.

We stayed at the Quay West Resort and Spa in July with family and my kids, we stayed in a 2 bedroom Penthouse Apartment.
The location was fantastic, the views were amazing and the staff were very efficient, we were there on the last week of the school holidays so it was peak hour all day everyday!

When we arrived we were told the outdoor jaccuzzi wouldn't be warm enough as the lid had blown off the night before, this happened everyday we were there so we were never able to use the spa.

The breakfast wasn't a very good one, you could get your eggs cooked to your liking but it took a while and the wait staff had no clue what was going on. Some of the family members ended up staying in the room and cooking their own. The kitchen was a good size, the only two things were when we arrived the sofa bed wasn't made up despite me calling the day before to confirm, I called reception when we checked in and they told me it had been done even though I was looking at it unmade and some things were missing from the kitchen, when we called reception to ask for a frying pan again we were told it was in the room, a grumpy man had to come up and check every cupboard in of kitchen to confirm I was indeed correct.

The locker room was great, close to the end of the run and the chair lifts and warm. I wouldn't call this a 5 star property maybe a 4 star. I agree with a past review where there was no extra service or "goodies" we had to hunt down extra shampoo, no robes or slippers and standard size towels.

This is the first time I have been to falls creek and we stayed in the two bedroom apartment in the west wing with hot tub.
It was great!
We got upgraded to a two bed room apartment on arrival which was awesome, the staff were helpful and friendly and the location was fantastic right in the hub of falls and at the bottom of the wombats ramble making it easy to reach the slopes. The Alta resturant was surpurb! A must to dine at, sensational food, prompt service and friendly staff. The hot tub on the balcony was excellent with great views and is certainly worth getting. The only negatives would be is there was no free WiFi and the foxtel was only 4 extra channels (I wouldn't class that as foxtel) no ipod dock and the beds were a bit hard not great after a long day on the slopes. There were no little touches that made the stay special such as robes or slippers or mini bar. For 3 nights at $2046 I wouldnt class this as 5 star rating. Over all our experience was wonderful and we enjoyed our stay at the quay west. 7/10 three points lost for the unexpected lower rating.

This is a terrific property, right next to the car park and the ski lifts. All amenities needed for a great skiing holiday are right there, restaurants, a supermarket with good range and remarkably reasonable prices, a good ski hire shop and gym and spa. We stayed in a 3 br apartment, which was spacious and well appointed, with a really comfortable bed. Our only issue is that a number of the apartments are privately owned, and two different companies manage rooms within the same complex, which can make some cleaning and maintenance issues a little confusing. We were in a room not managed by Quay West, and had a great time. With a couple of issues such as the room safes, we needed help from the hotel staff. It seemed to me that there is a little friction between the 2 managers, but after a few conversations everyone pulled together and sorted things out, we are very grateful to all involved for making our stay a very pleasant one. Now if the hotel can only control the weather and prevent rain and whiteouts, all would be perfect!

We had a lovely stay at Falls Creek Quay West for three nights in July in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. This hotel is new and fairly well designed for the snow with hire facilities on site, locker rooms etc. It is perfectly situated on the main road across from the car-park and at the base of the main lift the Falls Creek express. The check-in staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, cleaner and waiters seemed inexperienced but were friendly and enthusiastic. We were glad we got an apartment as we had some bad weather and were stuck inside. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, we also had a balcony with a hot tub which was nice. We ate at the restaurant which was nice (if a bit small), the buffet breakfast was fairly standard and ok, we tried room service which was prompt but was extremely limited. We walked through the snow to the Cock & Bull for a crowded pub meal which was fun (and expensive).

Be aware this is an extreme environment when you are driving up with the chance of chains, of rain, sleet and snow when checking in and out or digging your car out of the snow if you don’t want to pay for the valet. But this is all part of the adventure of a ski holiday and Quay West makes it as easy as possible.

Black and white decor looks modern but the black of the carpet and tables of the restaurant showed every grain of salt and bread crumb. The flat white of the rooms must have looked great when brand new but the robust nature of skiers and their gear is already making the rooms look a bit tired (maybe try a low sheen finish next time).

We love Falls Creek and really enjoyed our stay at such a perfectly situated Hotel.
