“Disappointing to our previous visits”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

This is our third visit to this restaurant . Previously lunch and a dinner that hasn't disappointed us.
This visit was for dinner abit of a let down. Presentation was average for both the entrees and sides .
Service very good and attentive but we come for the food .

“Nationally famous”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

The Royal Mail Hotel and Restaurant are famous -- throughout Victoria, at least. You have three options -- a 10 course dinner at the hotel restaurant, more modest fare at the bistro, and even more informal atmosphere and better bargains in the attached bar. The food and atmosphere were marvelous.

“Over rated”
Reviewed June 4, 2013 via mobile

Ate in the Bistro on two successive dinners. The meals are expensive and with exception of the sirloin steak which was OK the fish was over cooked the crayfish risotto was sloppy and the rice under cooked. The wine list is comprehensive and reasonably priced. I cannot comment on the main restaurant with 6 or 7 course fixed menu but I am glad I did based on the Bistro food

“Over priced and to much hype.”

Over priced, not happy with the service. Very disappointed after being told how great it was. Kitchen slow so then the night became long. Over rated never again.

“see my review of the accommodation”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

Loved the restaurant. Had the degustation menu. Would not match the wines with the menu next time as we did not like some of the wines and 5 of them were imported when local wines are fantastic. We had already toured Victorian wineries.
