We stopped here on our way through to the Grampians. Lovely set up with the log cabins, facilities were great, awesome log fire! Wished we could have stayed longer.

The rooms are fantastic. A fully functional kitchen, a fireplace, charmingly decorated. We absolutely loved it and will stay here again and again.

Wow! What a fabulous surprise after a week spent camping in the Grampians. First we checked out the cabins in the Dunkeld Caravan Park and could hardly hear ourselves think as the trucks roared past on the Glenelg Highway. Then, just around the corner, we discovered this quiet retreat complete with restful gardens and colourful birds. Our cabin was immaculately clean and very well-presented. It had everything we wanted and the comprehensive Visitor's Book held the promise of providing anything essential that was missing. We didn't light the slow-combustion stove but there was plenty of firewood available.

On arrival, the resident hens took to picking the bugs off the front bumper of the car. Very bucolic. As city dwellers, the quiet will be, well, really quiet. We sat on the verandah in the late afternoon, sipping tea, watching the clouds slip by, and marvelled at how really 'still', the world can be. Having said that, a quick check of the emails is still possible. Nestled at the base of the stunning Grampians, the cottage was clean, well presented, with all manner of mod cons that will make you feel at home - kettle, toaster, well stocked cupboards of cutlery, crockery and utensils, the only thing missing was fresh milk in the fridge. We didn't need the firebox, although I did consider it, just for the mood lighting, and in fact had the overhead fan on for the night, (late March). We walked into town at sunset, via the well marked path, and dined at the Royal Mail Hotel. Take a torch for the walk home however.

After a business trip to Melbourne I spent 4 days traveling along the great coast road and then up to the Grampian Mountains. It was a spectacular drive. It was getting late and I was a bit worried I'd forget which side of the road to drive on. It was my second to last day in Australia, I was in the middle of no where and I was starting to think I might not be able to find a place for the night when I came acros these cute (not so) little cottages. The price was quite reasonable. The cottages are well maintained, cosy, and had a cosy log fires for warmth. I was also able to access the internet from my room which was a nice bonus..

Take note of other reviews, this place is fantastic. Dont waste your money on the Dunkeld Hotel as these cottage are very attractive and tasteful inside, offer far superior value for money, are supremely easier if you have kids and offer a natural environment within walking distance to town. I could not recommend this place more highly. There are fun things for the kids to do, places for adults toi relax and chill out, plus you are located adjacent Alan Myer's monolithic estate so you can walk right around his property and be awe struck by the amazing stone walls.

If you read my other reviews you'll notice I am a critical reviewer but I was really impressed by this establishment. we ate at the Dunkeld Hotel bar, found it very average but the cafe across the road was much better.
