“An above average pub lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2013

Although the sign above the door said no dogs except guide dogs we and our dog were made most welcome in the bar area.
The lunchtime snack menu was not the most extensive of its kind but quality will out.
Goats cheese ciabatta and smoked haddock risotto were excellent.
Service prompt and friendly.
Would return if in the area again.

“Excellent food, service and atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

Having visited this fine establishment over fifteen years ago, I was suprised to see it had changed from a regular country pub into a country restaurant.
The atmosphere is fantastic and the service incredible. (I am in the industry and even I was impressed).
The food is very contemporay but clever in in's conception. Hearty flavours balanced with clever finishes. The dishes are perfectly preportioned and not over filling. The wine list is extremely well chosen and remarkably well priced.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Hare Inn. Worth every penny and I am tempted to make the trip down from Scotland just for another fine dinner.

“Pleasant but expensive & not filling”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

We shall not hurry back. The food is good but expensive (soup £6.50) and portions of the main courses are small. Service was slow (as opposed to leisurely); it was a fine April Saturday and they were busy but staffing should be their problem, not ours. We gave up on waiting to order a dessert.

“Foodie heaven just off the beaten track....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013 via mobile

I was treated to dinner here on my birthday. We had read the recent reviews since the change of ownership and having always liked the place, decided to check it out. A friendly welcome awaited us and a very adventurous menu. What followed was a wonderful dinner in an intimate atmosphere. We enjoyed beautifully cooked food, with an interesting combination of flavours and we will certainly be returning. We have had worse food in Michelin starred restaurants, so here's hoping.... An understated little sparkler appeared in my dessert, which was nicely done, with no hint of happy birthday Muzak! Diners were mostly dressed very casually and it is clear that if you are passing and are hungry you don't need to be dressed up to dine in style here.
