“Not what it used to be”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

Not having been there for years, made the trip from Melbourne to buy some heirloom vegetables, mainly tomatoes. Obviously too early in the season as the choice was very limited, and the size of their perennials was miniscule, hardly justifying the exhorbitant prices they were asking. Also, at 11.15 could not sit inside the cafe and have a coffee as they were setting up for lunch - it was raining outside. We had planned to lunch there but after that reception we left and went elsewhere. My tip, pick the right season to go there - we were obviously too early in the season.

“Heronswood and Diggers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

Herons wood is the most amazing gothic revival house that is so well cared for, the grounds and the garden are amazing. The food at the restaurant is so fresh and natural, I watched them picking the herbs and garnishes. also here is Diggers a fantastic seed and garden centre offering all sorts of hard to come by seeds as well as all the normal ones. Loved the whole place. Amazing

Hersonswood and I have had a long relationship in the garden.

I have been buying my seeds, plants and books for over 20 years.

I love going there not just for the nursery but also for the fabulous lunches and afternoon teas.

Kid friendly gardens to play in and lots for children to see and do.

Whilst walking around the huge gardens I saw a kookaburra in a tree!

Great views of Port Phillip Bay.

Great for any age groups.

Very popular on holidays and weekends with limited car parking.
There is an overflow car park further down the hill in the holiday seasons.

“Heirloom plants and excellent support”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

I have been buying seeds and plants from this mob for over 20 years. That should tell you I am satisfied. Last summer I sourced 6 different heirloom tomatoes and they produced wonderful flavours. The place is worth a visit even if you just want to wander amongst the superb gardens. The magazine they produce to support their products is also excellent. If you want a meal or a coffee the restaurant is there, if you want seeds/seedlings they are there, regular "How To" workshops too. A great resource and another reason to visit the Mornington Peninsula.

“morning tea in nice surrounding”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

We had late morning tea in the small cafe, not the restaurant part which was fairly full. Scones, jam and cream were nice. We didn't wander around the garden - $10 each for four of us wasn't in our budget for the day - maybe in summer when the gardens are at their finest and it's not raining - the walk to the cafe through some of the garden was certainly interesting
