Four of us visited Creswick for golf, staying overnight. We did not want to eat at the hotel (Novotel) as it was very busy, so booked a meal at the American Hotel. It is a charming old pub from the Gold Rush era. But, the restaurant was fabulous. The booking was for a table for 4. but as we sat down they asked us if we would like to relocate to a table for 6 as a large group would be arriving soon, which was much apreciated. The service was prompt, courteous and accurate. The menu has us drooling, and everyone had something they really looked forward to and all enjoyed. The cob loaf was a great starter. I had the cajun calamari followed by the housemade banana ice cream with berry coulis - yum!
