Always wanting to try something different, we had been meaning to go here for ages, but wanted to share the experience with friends. Made the booking on Thurs for the next night, 2 ducks for 4 people at 8pm. Not a huge restaurant, it was noisy and vibrant but with prompt service, and the food was as expected - great! We had the deluxe soft noodles, absolutely delicious after heaps of tasty duck and pancakes for first course. The soup was also very good, frangrant and full of flavour and we were certainly full afterwards.
Very reasonably priced for a good night out.

You go here for duck and duck only! It's simply the best duck I have had in Melbourne! Simon is a character and worth the trip to see him alone. As mentioned, you need to ring a few days in advance to book this. How many people ? How many ducks ? Simple!

Been there 2 months ago, found the duck was not properly roasted. Instead, there were obvious sign that it is fried in the later stage of preparation. Taste far from the real Peking duck. Customer service is average.

Simon Lay does one thing and one thing only, magnificent Peking Duck. You will need to book a few days in advance to get in but the wait will be worth it. Peking Duck done to perfection. When you make a reservation they just ask the time and how many ducks. We arrived ten minutes early at 9.30 pm to find the restaurant packed, and had to wait the ten minutes for the table. Not that this mattered as Simon gave us a complimentary glass of wine and kept us entertained until the table was ready. There is a choice of a standard and deluxe set menu. I've tried both and the deluxe menu with hand made noodles is the better. By 10.30 Simon had joined us again (with more wine) and topped off an excellent night. There is no better Peking duck in Melbourne.
