Description: Earthly Pleasures Café is Belgrave's iconic gem, hidden by a lush garden, right in the middle of town. The building's impressive 20-foot high bluestone walls warrant a heritage listing, but today the café's mandate is modern. Earthly Pleasures has built its reputation on ethically sourced produce and small batch roasted artisan coffee that meets Melbourne's highest standards of coffee. The generously-portioned meals are made from scratch - everything from chutneys, pestos and homemade cakes. And the local craft beers and boutique wines impress the locals, while also drawing the inner city crowd to the hills. Built in the 1930s by the Jorgensen family (famous also for later building Montsalvat in Eltham) Earthly Pleasures moonlights as a function venue at night. If the walls could talk, they'd speak of bohemian parties starring the beatnik artistic community of mid-century Victoria. Whatever time of day you're in Belgrave, Earthly Pleasures is a must see It's the perfect place to dine or pop in for a drink before exploring the Belgrave streetscape, Puffing Billy, Trees Adventure or any of the beautiful national parks within a bluestone's throw.

“Breakfast with friends”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

Thought this would be a pleasant place to catch up with friends for brunch, I was right. The menu was not huge, but it did offer healthy and gluten free options which kept us all happy. The staff were excellent and very friendly without being over the top. It is a very old building with a great ambience. Families could enjoy sitting outside with a big lawn area for the kids to run around on. I will definitely put this cafe on my return list.

“Great food and location”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Enjoyed the lovely old building. Menu was extensive and interesting. I liked the fact that most dishes seemed healthy.
Particularly loved the banana muffin.
Loved eating by the fountain.
My only complaint is that the chairs were very uncomfortable, and one at our table was broken.
But that's a minor complaint compared to the good quality of the food.

“We're not telling anyone else about this dear little cafe!”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

This adorable place is staffed by the friendliest people and has thoughtful and healthy menu options. Just one favourite though- don't take our corner table first thing on the weekends!!:):):) it's ours!!

Go and enjoy any other time and feel relaxed within the beautiful stone walls.

Tony and Di. :)

“Great food, slow service”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

We visited after seeing a movie, wanting a bite to eat. The atmosphere in this lovely old building is tranquil, good range of food to suit most dietary requirements. Staff pleasant and helpful but service slow. We ordered two drinks and waited and waited whilst three staff chatted behind the bar and cleaned glasses. Other staff walking around doing nothing, very hard to catch their eye. We ordered facaccias which were tasty & hot though a bit over priced for the content. Worth another visit.
