“First class meal”
Reviewed August 7, 2014

From the very start Gigi's impressed. A great selection of local wines, mixed in with some beers from the brewery across the road, let us know that we were definitely going to taste some of Beechworth's local produce.

The well presented and well spoken staff took our order and, in what seemed like barely minutes, we received our appetizer; pulled pork on fennel toast. Full of flavor but not to heavy with sauce, I'm afraid I ate them so quick my partner didn't even have a chance to grab her second.
Our entree was the Squid Ink Linguine, and if anything it was better than the pork. Great taste through the pasta and perfect texture with the calamari.
For mains we had the Pork Belly and the Venison Pappardelle. The venison was cooked perfectly, the venison's richer flavor really allowed to stand out. The pork was even better, moist and rich.
A great meal in great atmosphere. A perfect first night for our Beechworth holiday.

“A Class Find!”
Reviewed July 27, 2014 via mobile

Had a beautiful dinner here with a few friends Friday evening, and was pleasantly surprised by the well constructed menu featuring many local ingredients, the staff were lovely and very attentive and the food was fantastic! The taste plate is recommended Yum!! I was surprised to see a few negative reviews, I will be back.

“Rough around the edges”
Reviewed June 20, 2014

Gigi's unfortunately seem to rest on their laurels. They have a great location in the middle of the high street, the menu is appetising, the interior is warm and comfortable and they boast a series of Good Food credits on their window. However reality sets in once seated.
We were made to feel unwelcome, the restaurant was empty and they were getting ready to close up at 7.30pm (not a good sign).
Given the slowness of the evening, we were surprised that the waitress failed to remember our drinks and we were only told that our side dish had run out once we had finished the mains. They then offered supplementary side dishes which were presented as 'on the house', however we were still charged for the side on our bill. My parents were too embarrassed to complain, but having now looked at previous reviews, i can see that our experience was not an isolated incident and we feel that our criticisms are just.
All in all the food was tasty although could have been served warmer.
Unfortunately this is not a restaurant we will re-visit on our next trip to Beechworth.

“Grumpy staff and slow service”
Reviewed June 7, 2014 via mobile

Not worth the wait! It took over 40 minutes to get bacon and eggs! There were only three tables full of people! The kitchen staff were fighting, there were no apologies for the wait! The eggs were over cooked! All in all, a waste of money, so don't waste your time!

“Bad Management”
Reviewed June 2, 2014 via mobile

We had a booking for 10 people on a Saturday night.their were 2 other bookings of 12 and and 80th Birthday booking in a private room in the rear. We arrived at 6.30pm and had ordered by 7.00pm. We then faced Hugh delays . Some nibbles were served but no main meals were delivered until 10 .30pm-11pm. Some tentative apologies advising they were understaffed in kitchen with only one chef and no assistance. This was very disappointing . When the food did arrive some was good ,many of the accompaniments were stone mother cold!

This experience reflects badly on Beechworth. Why would Tourists go there for such poor service and experience?
