We stayed a couple of weeks ago. Great spot for a getaway for 2. All the comfort you could ask for in a setting full of character. Idyllic and private, a few steps over the creek to the lake walk. Really interesting history of the cabin reconstructed with skill and precision. Plenty of space and most importantly a fabulously comfy bed. Walk to the historic sights of Beechworth and enjoy!
Gina and Matt have thought of everything for a comfortable stay, starting with the enormous leather couch inside and the cute cane one on the verandah. Both have lovely views of silver birch trees, the picturesque weathered picket fence and varied greenery beyond.
The cottage is spacious and very well equipped, including to deal with extremes of heat and cold and with insects.
It is peaceful and private, stylish but low key, and extremely well furnished.
Just the right attention to detail - soft robes, comfortable furniture, great coffee machine, luxurious double bath. Every detail was carefully thought out, including our breakfast and paper being discretely dropped on our door step so that we could sleep in as long as we wanted. We would have been happy to stay inside all weekend, it was such a lovely retreat.
We stayed for a 2 night weekend stay. The house was private, welcoming and cosy. The lounge/kitchen area was large and fitted out with everything we needed. The bedroom area is huge and the large king size bed is excellent. The open fire was fantastic, we had to extract ourselves from the comfort to go out for dinner. Having a coffee on the landing out the front of the cottage after breakfast, with uninterrupted views over the creek towards the lake - you could imagine you were all alone in the high country. It was quiet and private. Thank you to the hosts.
A wonderful rebuilt cottage, saved from destruction by its caring owners. Situated in easy walking distance from the main village, 1860 is tucked away out of sight. Every description is true. We had (and are having) a wonderfully peaceful time here, enjoying the peace and tranquility. Bring your woolies. It's is cold in July ...
What a find, we will definitely be back. Cosy accomodation with everything you could ask for and more. We were in Beechworth for a wedding and it was pretty full on so to come back to this little sanctuary was a lifesaver. Thank you so much x
The property is full of charm and very comfortable. I loved the king size bed, super comfy lounge and the deep bath. The location is close to the centre of town which is a bonus and there is a lovely front yard with a little creek to overlook while sitting on the porch. For me it lacked the luxury amenities in the bathroom and were supplied a tiny piece of homemade soap and the usual little shampoo bottles etc. Usually properties in this price bracket might provide a muffin or homemade biscuits on arrival but I was a little disappointed to find none of these. All in all we had a lovely stay but found it a little expensive.
