Description: Twenty One (21) Espresso is one of Australia's oldest restaurants, founded in 1958 by John Schiffer - Father and Grandfather to the restaurant's current owners George and Michael. Twenty One was the first restaurant to introduce European style dining to Australia in the form of outdoor seating and also had one of the very first espresso machines - hence the inclusion in the restaurant name. Today, you can find traditional Hungarian and European dishes on the menu, whilst dining in a comfortable and cosy setting with warm and attentive service. The restaurant is open all day every day, should you feel like just popping in for a coffee and cake and to soak in the atmosphere.

This was a very busy place on Saturday night. Great food and staff. Reasonable prices. This is obviously a favourite with locals which is always a good sign.

Had takeaway coffee four times and it was great each time. Also had dinner which was very good. The menu offers many choices including a wide range of salads and the staff are friendly.

About ten of us met there on a saturday night, a bit of a reunion, and it was great! The food, while in the main Hungarian, was quite varied as there were other stunning temptations to be had. the service matched the food, it was also excellent and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. it is an old favourite for the area as there were obviously many repeat diners and as with the newcomers the menu was mouthwatering in contemplation of a feast to be had. It is very good value, aside from the choice, the servings are generous and quite reasonable, given where it is and the surrounding competition. Also, there is no music and a conversation can be had over dinner, with a bottle of wine of your choice.

As the saying goes, ‘everything tastes better crumbed’ and that’s certainly the case with their delicious stuffed mushrooms, lambs brains and lots of other goodies. Cakes and chestnut purée reliable as ever - I’ve been having the pischinger slice for 30+ years! Recent ownership changes have brought life and much needed maintenance back to the old gal, with service prompt and efficient.

Very good food, relatively expensive, but definitely value-for-money.

Friendly, helpful staff and NO MUSIC, which is a big plus.

Tables inside, or outside in a narrow alley alongside the restaurant. Book early if you want a table inside; the best ones are near the street.

We’ve visited three times during our stay in Woollahra and not been disappointed.
