This hotel is well run and the breakfast was excellent. The room had a very good bed and although small it was very well designed. The air conditioner was very efficient as it was extremely hot in Sydney.

I stay here on a regular basis, & am not usually disappointed.
This trip was different...I got really sick & was unable to leave the hotel.
Reception were happy to book me in for another night, with no change of room.

I got worse & contacted reception again, this time to ask them to call an ambulance for me.
The manager, Nicki, came up to my room & sat with me until the ambulance arrived....she got more than she bargained for....Nicki, nursing is your 2nd calling in life!
Nothing was too much trouble, & after I had been admitted to hospital, a friend went back to the hotel to collect my things.

The staff were more concerned about how I was than the outstanding amount on my account, & told my friend that they would catch up with me during my next stay!
How good is that!

I have NO hestitation in recommending the Ibis in Thornleigh..& WILL be staying there again soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, as Pennant Hills Road is very busy all day & night.

We were looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay at on NYE as we had been invited to someone's house in North Sydney to watch the fireworks. Although we were mobile with a car, the train station was only 10 minutes away and had we not been would have been very convenient. When we checked in the afternoon the hotels front desk had pre-printed instructions on how to get to many of the good venues for the evening which I thought was a very thoughtful thing to do. Our room was located overlooking the back car park so I did not notice any excessive traffic noise. The IBIS is in the process of upgrading all their beds to make them the same all across the brand. We asked about it at the front desk and unfortunately the beds in this hotel will not be getting upgraded until after Feb 2013. The beds are comfortable enough for one night but will be much better when they upgrade them. Better pillows will be a plus as well.
The rooms come equiped with a small kettle and complimentary coffee/tea and a small mini fridge should you require it. The shower area in the bathroom is quite large but no bath tub. No need to bring your hair dryer as that is in the bathroom as well.
Parking is complimentary which is quite nice compared to the prices you would have to pay in Sydney for overnight parking. There is a bistro that is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner as a rule, however for a limited time through the Christmas period up to the first part of Jan was closed for dinner. As we were going out it didn't affect us. There is a Grab N Go menu snack that is available and a MacDonald’s just up the street so you really won't go hungry. Also there are many pizza places that will deliver. There is a bar that is available as well for drinks in the lounge/foyer area.
The staff are all very pleasant and overall this hotel is comfortable and convenient.
We are Accor Club members but as the hotel was booked out when we to reserve we had to book through Last Minute.com which still had some allocation remaining. The one bad thing is that you do not get any points towards your card if you book through them. At least we had our room.

Room Tip: If you don't want road noise ask ask for a room that does not face the main roadway

We've decided to get a hotel away from downtown to get away from the crazy prices on New Year's Eve. The hotel is really close to the train station, right next to a Mc Donald's, Pizza Hut, Subway, supermarket...great location! It's a bit far away from downtown (around 40min by train) but it's very convenient...the only thing is to check the train schedule so you don't wait so much for it. Ibis standard...no surprises...very clean and great staff. Totally recommend.

Stayed at Ibis Thornleigh - room was compact, but clean. Laundry at the hotel was very good. We enjoyed a well displayed buffet breakfast. Staff were very helpful and cheerful. the hotel is situated near a busy road but traffic noise was not a problem. It is a 55 minute train ride to Sydney city and the train station is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel with trains running frequently. No request was too difficult for the staff and we were very pleased to stay in this accommodation. We will definitely stay here again.

After looking for a hotel close to the F3 motorway we chose the Ibis for its handy location and nearby shops and restaurants. It is a short walk to McDonalds and a supermarket. On check in we were greeted by Pyong who was very efficient, friendly and engaging. Our 4th floor room, though small, was modern, clean and functional with a comfortable bed. The only shortcoming was a noisy air conditioner which we had to turn off to enable us to sleep. The tariff was very reasonable, included parking and a full buffet breakfast which was more than adequate. The restaurant staff were extremely attentive and nearly psychic in providing what we needed without our asking.

All in all a thoroughly satisfying stay, and as we often require this stopover on our way north, we will be back.

Extremely clean and nicely presented for a budget hotel, but the bed was horrendous! There is no base to the bed - it sits on a board and spent two nights in agony. If you suffer from sore hips or back - forget it! Request a room furthest away from the main road as traffic is loud when you open the window. One of the young girls made a perfect coffee, much better than the big M next door. Paid $11 more and moved up the road to another hotel that was spacious and had a comfortable bed. Sorry but won't be staying at ibis or any of their chains again. Would rather spend a bit more.
