“Nice little country store”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

The country store had some cute items and we ate in the restaurant and the food was ok. The service at the time was a little slow but it was a busy day.

“Mom & Pop Cracker Barrel”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

This place reminded me so much of Cracker Barrel, but with a down-home personal touch. The large store is filled with funny and amusing little knick knacks for the whole family as well as samples of some of the things in the restaurant (hot sauces, jams, spreads, etc.). Those have amusing names to go with them as well (at least it had my fiance and I laughing the entire visit). The staff was friendly, and promoted a very family oriented atmosphere. The food itself was very pleasing. I recommend the sandwiches & the fried pie. We, also, took some of their local fudge home & it was delicious. We will stop by there again our next trip through there.

“Great beef vegetable soup and more!”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

The food in the restaurant is fresh and yummy with the vegetable beef soup being our favorite.  The fried chicken and homemade meatloaf are like no other you will find and the biscuits are the best ever.  We also indulged in some of their homemade fudge, fried pies, and Coconut, Chocolate and Mint ice cream that was so delicious and refreshing.  We will be back...no doubt!

Thank you so much for your review on _thesmokehouse. This soup is the same as we've been making it for 50 years; Our Dad's formula. We have lots of people stop in just for the soup and skillet cornbread. Next time you are up, try the fresh _homemade fudge, _friedpies, and the cozy comfortable _Monteagle Cabins we have here too. Thanks and come in again.

“A Must Visit”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

This is certainly a must visit if you are in Middle Tennessee. This is a fascinating store offering local food, goods, historic items and much more. There is a restaurant offering a range of local delicious basic meals. My friends had the beef and veg soup with really good 'biscuits' (scones to non Americans). I had the smoked brisket on a bun which was really delicious. I could have had another. Service was very good. They offer a buffet which looked very tempting loaded with southern favourites.

“Great ribs”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Stopped in for the second time. The first time was so good. It was lunch a few years back. But I remember the place. This time I had dinner. The Ribs are great. Very tender with lots of meat.
The fried pies are the best I have ever had. I found the staff to be very nice and had good service. The atmosphere is worth the stop if you like old country stores.
