“Home Away From Home!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2012

This beautiful place is our home away from home. Whether its' a weekend arrival (and yes! you can order a bottle of sparkles to your room!) or, if I go back in time living (which I did in my 20's or so!) if I was to be whisked away for a night in - this property so! ticks the boxes. Wine list -plus ! Menu - Plus! Simply put, how can you not love this place ? At the minute, it is everything my family and I want -a classy place, amazing staff (love you all !) -can't (and will never!) speak highly enough of you all!

My parents recently booked me in for a 2 night stopover while I waited to catch my flight overseas. It was a great spot, could catch up via internet with some work plus revisit the sights of Sydney I haven't seen for awhile. Parents and sister joined me for breakfast at their cafe morning of my departure and thouroughly enjoyed my meal. Easy to see why mum and dad stay at this particular Hotel whenever they come to Sydney. Kind of a shame there is such a jump weekday prices over weekend prices.

Hi robjan5260,

Your parents obviously have fantastic taste ;-) It’s great to see that you enjoyed your meal in Sure Café too. Our rates vary from week to week, so you must have caught us during a busy one.

Thanks for your review and we look forward to seeing you and your parents again.

The staff are absolutely awesome, the rooms are clean. Close proximity to hospital. The staff went out of their way to ensure my toddler and I enjoyed our stay and even helped family with directions so that they could join us for an exceptional dinner. I'll definitely be back.

This hotel feels like its in the middle of nowhere, on the side of the Pacific Highway, but it is a true urban retreat. Have stayed here twice now for business, and it is truly wonderful. The staff are friendly, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the bathroom products and truly luxurious. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from St Leonards train station, and there is nothing but suburbia around it in terms of restaurants or cafes. Perhaps a little overpriced given its location, but it is a lovely, lovely hotel. Highly recommended.

Hi senorita08,

Thank you for your lovely, lovely comments! We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know your feedback.

We get quite a few comments about our location – it's great being able to enjoy the leafy, gorgeous North Shore, but also being so close to everything you need at the same time. There are a bunch of great restaurants and cafes in the area (of course Sure Café is one of them!), so if you want some tips on some great places to try next time, please don't hesitate to ask our friendly staff.

We love our evo products too. We're so happy to hear we could give you a comfy experience for your second stay, and hope you come back for a third try very soon!

Kind Regards

This motel does have some nice features. The soap they use in the bathroom is very nice and the decor is very IKEA- if you like that. It is renovated but unfortunately this does not justify the premium price.

I did arrive early but the bathroom had not been cleaned - paper in the toilet and lotion in the shower.

$20 / day parking, $4 for a kit kat, boutique breakfast prices in the cafe make close alternatives a better option.

Urban St Leonard's would have to be one of the strangest places in Sydney to stay. There is really only one reason I would consider it and that is its proximity to the hospital. This does not tally with the pseudo-quirky vibe of the Urban.

St Leonard's itself has nothing to offer except scurrying drones with the one standout being Gilroy's Hotel.

Hi Spook934,

Everybody loves the evo products in our bathrooms, they always get rave reviews. Prices for hotels always fluctuate according to demand so it must have been a busy week that week :-) Although, if you keep an eye on our website we have great specials all year round.

We are nice and close to public transport, and the train is only 15 to 20 minutes into the city which is very handy! We love being located in the North Shore as it's so leafy and pretty, people generally love our gorgeous location, sorry to hear you were after something a bit different.

Thanks for your review.

This Urban Hotel experience was booked online. The warm welcome on a late arrival after a days work and long drive was very pleasant, and quick. The room was cozy and the receptionist informed immediately of meals available, if I hadn't eaten. The location was immediately across the road from the Royal North Shore Hospital. Close to Medical services surrounding St Leonards. The railway station was 5-10 minute walk however city transit buses were at the front door. It is located along the Pacific Hwy but noise was not a problem. Parking was available however parking around St Leonards is quite difficult to find during the day so easier to walk fro the motel and jump public transport. 20 minute train trip to the city (7 stops to central 5 to Wynyard/circular quay). Not far from Blue's Point Road for restaurants in the evening for something different about the city. There was no pool or spa that I discovered but an excellent gym for exercise away from home.

Room Tip: The king room was very good. The bathroom's pokey but sufficient. Fridge in the room if you are...

Hi CandcH,

We love our location on the North Shore as well, relaxing leafy surrounds yet not too far from the CBD. The ‘Jim’ is a great place to get active and stay fit when away from home.

Looking for something different from the usual hotel chain? This small hotel is on the north side of sydney harbour on a bus route and 5 minutes walk from the rail station(15 minutes into the city by rail). It also has plenty of secure parking onsite. I stumbled upon it recently and as I am in Sydney often for business this is an ideal getaway that has great facilities, a reasonable cafe and good meeting rooms. The rooms are very comfortable ( opening windows are a plus). Many have a balcony and those on the 4 th level ( the most expensive) are really spacious with a wonderful walk out terrace and sensational leafy views of Sydney and the upper harbour. There is something really relaxing about these rooms - i travel a lot and get tired of the sameness about the usual hotel chains but I always look forward to checking in to this very reasonable hotel. Make sure you request a room on the quiet side of the hotel away from the main road frontage. If you are into shopping, there is not around this area so its probably moresuited to a business traveller who doesnt need a central city location.

Room Tip: Request rooms away from the road as these a very quiet.

Hi ozbabetasmania,

We do love the views of Sydney from our King Balcony Rooms and Sweet Urban Rooms – we agree that they are super relaxing :-) Next time you stay you should take a short train ride to Chatswood Chase - a fantastic high end shopping mall – it’s only 2 stops from St Leonards station! Perfect for a little bit of shopping while you are here on business ;-)
