“A step up from the local swill”
Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

St Leonards can't really lay claim to many culinary highlights, generally deferring to Crows Nest a few minutes down the road. However, The Moody Chef does its best to stand out from its peers and offer good food for breakfast and lunch with reasonably quick service at an OK price. The menu isn't particularly adventurous but is a step beyond the basic and the cooking and presentation is consistently good. The fact that the tables are consistently occupied is testament to the offering.

“Good for business meetings”
Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

Great tables, food and service.
Music too loud.
A bit expensive.
Well visited by business people in the area (not many options though)

“Over priced”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

In this day and age how hard is it for a chef even a 'Moody' one to put together a vegeterian salad! They advertised a roast vegetable and chicken salad... I said i was vegeterian could i have the salad without the chicken and cheese. I got a small bowl of lettuce, about one tablespoon of diced tomato, six 'moons' of cucumber (no seeds basically peel) some grated carrot, a sprinkle of onion and a drizzle of dressing! $15 for the pleasure... No roast vegies, avocado, nuts... Hopeless!!

“Fantastic Brekky + Coffees”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

I always come every weekend and have my breakfast + coffee. Without a doubt, they have the best eggs benedict and skim lattes that Sydney has to offer!

The restaurant is family friendly, the arty decor can inspire a homely feel.

The only downside is the waitress tends to not notice us every weekend when we come over. She looks tired and it seems like she doesn't want to serve us... but everything else is just perfect!!!!!

“Great place”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

Really friendly staff and chef, nice relaxed atmosphere and the food is great. Also - love the comfy chairs which are a nice break from those awful metal cafe chairs most places have.
