Owner description: Taking a ferry directly from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo, located in the suburb of Mosman, is the first unexpected joy of visiting the animal park. Once there, the leisurely trails and opportunity to see some of Australia's distinct wildlife become apparent, as does the striking view of the Harbour Bridge from the seating at the aerial bird show. Advance booking can give you the chance to see koalas up close, or stay overnight and 'camp' in the zoo.

Access by the ferry and the trip and zoo was in the most picturesque location. Nothing ever can compare to the scenery of the cliffs overlooking Sydney Harbour. Unfortunately the animals were fairly sleepy but not much can be done about that. Very average and pricy selection of food. Well set out zoo making the most of the environment.

We took the ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo. When we arrived, we rode a sky rail to the top where the entrance was. It was a great opportunity to take some gorgeous pictures of Sydney in the distance. When we bought our ferry ticket, it included our admission to the zoo. When we entered, we could pay a fee to have our picture taken with a koala so we did. The zoo has one whole section that was just animals native to Australia. We were limited on time due to afternoon whale watching so we opted to just do the Australian animals. The zoo was beautifully laid out with each section having animals from another part of the world. The koalas were so soft and smelled like cough drops! You could easily spend a whole day here. It was a great place for all ages.

This is a special experience. You take a ferry to the zoo and a sky ride to the entrance, so it already starts out with a bang. Than there are the usual zoo experiences with varied animals and shows. An excellent family adventure!

We took the Captain Cook ferry to the Taronga Zoo on a Friday in July. The ferry ride provided great photo opportunities of the Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and Fort Dennison on the way to the port. When we exited the ferry there was a sign with options to get to the zoo; cable car, bus or walk to the back entrance. Since we had a baby with us we talked to another mom with an infant in a stroller and she suggested the best option was the bus since a since further down the road stated the lower entrance was closed and the cable car involved a staircase. We stood for 5-10 minutes waiting for the bus. A worker in a vehicle approached and told us we were better off taking the cable car with the strollers/prams than the bus and that the fee on the bus depended upon the driver. We had to carry our stroller up the stairs and helped the other woman with her stroller/pram since there was not an elevator/lift available.

Once we got to the front of the line, the ride on the cable car was a lot of fun. We had a view of Sydney harbor along with animals below. We had pre-purchased our tickets so we were able to enter without any lines. We had to fine a map of the facility to determine our route through the zoo as one was not provided when we entered.

The zoo has a user friendly layout and is an easy walk. We stopped by the reptile area for photo opportunities with the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the background. The staff were very friendly and approachable during presentations. The lemur area has a nice playground for kids. We purchased lunch and drinks at the zoo and found something everyone liked.

We had planned to spend only half a day at the zoo but ended up spending the entire day. The zoo is a must for families visiting the Sydney area.

The zoo was on a hill and some parts i thought I going to loose the wheel chair. That saying my daughter loved seeing all the animals.
