Owner description: Taking a ferry directly from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo, located in the suburb of Mosman, is the first unexpected joy of visiting the animal park. Once there, the leisurely trails and opportunity to see some of Australia's distinct wildlife become apparent, as does the striking view of the Harbour Bridge from the seating at the aerial bird show. Advance booking can give you the chance to see koalas up close, or stay overnight and 'camp' in the zoo.

The zoo itself was excellent, a fabulous location and easy to get around. It was really busy the day we were there so we didn't end up seeing any of the shows, but the baby elephants put on their own show playing in the water together which was fantastic.
I was very disappointed with the transport arrangements to get over to the zoo though - we booked at one of the little kiosks outside the train station, and were given vouchers for the eco-hopper ferry, but then had to queue up again for ages at the entry to the ferry to exchange the vouchers for tickets - it was confusing and time consuming and there were many others in line that were saying the same as us - no one was really sure where they should go or what they should do.
We also had to wait over an hour for a return ferry which should have been there every 20 minutes - the guys on the ferry said it was just because it was busy, but surely this would be the same every Xmas period and they should be more prepared for it. Overall disappointing, but the zoo was very enjoyable.

This zoo is absolutely amazing.
In late November my partner and I went and stayed overnight at the zoo for the Roar and Snore. We went on a couples only night and had an absolute blast! We got to meet and pat a range of different animals plus were able to feed Giraffes. The walking tours you do at night and in the morning are very lovely as there aren't the massive crowds or hoards of children running around.
It is definitely a luxury at the price, but I believe everything you do makes it extremely worth it!
If you can't go to a Roar and Snore, you should still pop by the Zoo for a day out if visiting Sydney, it has breath taking views, a wide variety of animals and shows to enjoy!

Was disappointed to find that a number of the cages were empty or no sign of life to be seen during my afternoon visit. It was my first visit, however the friend I went with had said it was better on past visits. Also some people who had been in the morning, said the empty cages had had animals in them earlier in the day.
The views were excellent though, although I was dissapointed again when the clouds rolled in shortly after my arrival and ruined the views too! I dont blame the zoo for this though!

We had an Australian wildlife-focused tour with one of the fauna keepers at the zoo, which included getting to meet an echidna, visiting the zoo kitchen, and photos with the koalas. We had a lot of fun, though unfortunately the zoo closes pretty early (at 4:30), which we had not been aware of prior to our visit. I would recommend going on the tour and being sure to have enough time to explore the zoo on your own before or afterwards.

We visited Taronga Zoo on a beautiful sunny Sydney day, the ferry ride on the harbour to the zoo was one of the highlights of our day. On arriving we made our way to the lovely cafe area where there is a great selection of food and drinks to enjoy inside or out. The animal enclosures are very nicely done and there are included shows, the seals are very entertaining, also informative talks from keepers. A great day out for families or couples.
