Owner description: Taking a ferry directly from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo, located in the suburb of Mosman, is the first unexpected joy of visiting the animal park. Once there, the leisurely trails and opportunity to see some of Australia's distinct wildlife become apparent, as does the striking view of the Harbour Bridge from the seating at the aerial bird show. Advance booking can give you the chance to see koalas up close, or stay overnight and 'camp' in the zoo.

“A love hate feeling”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

I normally hate the idea of animals being caged so I don't really enjoy this part of the zoo but as zoos go, it is probably one of the better ones in Australia. Find the bird shows more interesting as there is a sense of freedom here.
We were sponsors of a bird until a year or two ago but this doesn't bring any benefits for visiting so gave it up and haven't been back to the zoo too often.

“A day at the zoo.”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

A must see for anyone visiting Sydney. We caught the Captain Cook zoo express from Circular Quay and that included the sky rail and ticket into the zoo. Amazing day and you do need a full day to do it justice. Plenty of rest areas to sit an take in the surroundings and spectacular views back over Sydney Harbour. The animal enclosures were clean and well maintained and the animals all look healthy. A very enjoyable day but wear comfortable walking shoes as there are more than 50 exhibits.

“One of the best Zoos I've visited”
Reviewed December 21, 2013 via mobile

Putting aside the views of Sydney (which are amazing), the zoo is so well laid out and easily takes a whole day of exploring.
The exhibits are really well presented and simple things like fully glass tanks in the reptile house are brilliant.
We went for late opening at Christmas as well, which was great with plenty to see - although a competition we took part in, the zoo staff seem to have conveniently forgotten about when it came to announcing the winner!!
Will definitely be returning at some point.

“Roar n Snore - Fantastic experience”
Reviewed December 19, 2013

We spent a great night in the most amazing location in Sydney for a birthday treat. We thoroughly enjoyed it. For anyone worried about cost it is worth noting what is included - parking, entrance fees, snacks and drinks on arrival, dinner, continental breakfast (with fresh fruit, pastries and cereals), perfectly comfortable tents with amazing views across to the harbour bridge and opera house. Plus - at least 4 knowledgable helpful guides, with hands on animal sessions as well as the 2 walkarounds whilst the zoo was closed. It is a group event - which means you have to deal with some people you may prefer not to - but that is well worth it for the experience. You can stay on for the next day to wander alone so you can quickly leave the group if you prefer. I can honestly say that anyone who thinks it overpriced should investigate the cost of a room alone with those views - I think they will reconsider it pronto. Definitely a 'do again' experience for us.

“Expensive zoo visit for the family”
Reviewed December 19, 2013

My trips to the zoo has been due to work and have found the education personnel obliging and kind to international students. IF you have been to San Diego Zoo, this is much smaller. Don't miss the bird show, often given by Canadians or Americans. The food there is exp and the queues long. Pack your own picnic and enjoy the beautiful view of the city from Mosman.
