Owner description: Taking a ferry directly from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo, located in the suburb of Mosman, is the first unexpected joy of visiting the animal park. Once there, the leisurely trails and opportunity to see some of Australia's distinct wildlife become apparent, as does the striking view of the Harbour Bridge from the seating at the aerial bird show. Advance booking can give you the chance to see koalas up close, or stay overnight and 'camp' in the zoo.

“Not bad but I wouldn't visit again as an adult.”

Children love The zoo and that's great but for Adults it just becomes a physical test, especially at taronga zoo. The uphills and down hills while pushing a pram or wheel chair are ridiculous. Entry is very expensive, food is expensive and parking and transportation is ok. You'll need at least 3 hours to see everything because the place is huge. Good for tourists and children but its really boring.. Unless you go to the children's section to see the rabbits, guinea pigs and goats and sheep!

“Roar and Snore”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

We stayed overnight in the Zoo on the Roar& Snoar Program. It was a brilliant night from start to finish. It was expensive but worth the money. We could see the Opera House from the bed in our tent! The view from the showers are amazing and definitely a memorable experience. The food was delicious at dinner and there was plenty of alcohol. We got up close and personal with a number of animals but our favourite was getting to feed the Giraffes. We'd definitely recommend it, the views alone are spectacular.

“excellent zoo but expensive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

this is an excellent zoo, but not sure i have ever paid this much to get into a zoo. Very organised zoo and able to see australian animals, and good view of the harbour, and nice sky walk. recommended if you have kids or are a tourist.

“taronga zoo twilight concerts - Great Location - Woeful Organisation”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

The best location in the world, a pretty good set of performers (assuming you liked ABBA) all spoilt by the appalling event organisation.

It is very popular so when you hear if it you buy tickets from Ticketek asap.

Pay to park the car and 300m from the car park is the 1st sign that says no BYO alcohol. 500m from the car park they inspect ie (search) all bags and confiscate any alcohol! .. or if you argue you can return 5000m to your car to take it back. OK is it 'family friendly', 'healthy', or even 'child friendly' ?
Well walk in another 500-600m and battle for a spot and you find its none of these - it is price gouging ... plain and simple ! They sell copious quantities of alcohol all through the night at 300-400% mark up (Wine $24,$40 and $50 a bottle).

Complaining about the policy at the 'search point' one is reminded of the statement on the web site.... a little late now ..but in the clear sight of the next day I checked the Zoo web site to find the statement - "Please note the 2012 season will see a restricted alcohol policy that allows you to bring in one bottle of wine per couple and a six-pack of beer per group of four." Well another rip-off"

But we are here for the concert, an hour ahead of the start - now to sit. Not so easy ... regular BYO deck chairs back behind the 'white line' please ie up against the back wall, and it is packed - OK understand we should have got here early. As it packs in more and more, people get desperate. Some disobey the rules and sit big chairs in front of the 'white line', some just plain stand up where they please. The 'security guards' come a long and try to enforce the rules, but before long their 'power of persuasion' is tested and fails - that is the only power they have !

Its is bedlam ! One can hear the concert but not see it. Alcohol runs wildly, people dance (OK they are having fun, ..... at my expense) But I do get to see a steady stream of people stepping over, falling over, all others to dance, take photos, get more food and alcohol, visit the bathroom etc. throughout the whole concert !

Not quite what I paid good money for.

Two years ago it was food venues blatantly over charging c/w with displayed prices. This year it is brutally enforced price gouging - That's it - Never again !
