Owner description: Taking a ferry directly from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo, located in the suburb of Mosman, is the first unexpected joy of visiting the animal park. Once there, the leisurely trails and opportunity to see some of Australia's distinct wildlife become apparent, as does the striking view of the Harbour Bridge from the seating at the aerial bird show. Advance booking can give you the chance to see koalas up close, or stay overnight and 'camp' in the zoo.

It was hard to find the animals! And the signs and directions were poor. Food facilities poor. The only saving grace is that it is in a great location. I shall not be taking my grand children on our next visit. The zoos in the UK and the States are much better.

Went to the zoo with two kids 8 and 12. I was originally from Sydney and Taronga Zoo is definately one of those things that are on the 'must do' listing when you are in Sydney. We went and did the animal encounter with the Giraffe's which was around $25. You had to book in when you got there and apparently it fills up fairly quickly.

We did go earlier this year and when we went the zoo had a fair amount of exhibits which were being refurbished. The Meercats are always very entertaining and a must to walk past with the kids.

We went over on the ferry from Circular Quay so it certainly adds that extra special to the day. On the way back we had to wait for a ferry and so went for a skinny dip down at the beach next door (it is relatively secluded..lol).

We took a picnic lunch over of cold meats and salads which we ate at this lovely bench which overlooked the harbour. This meant it was lovely and quiet for us and also cheaper.

I'm not sure that I would go again if we were back in Sydney with the kids, but certainly on the must see once list.

Took the ferry from circular quay. Recommend that you either take the Gondola to the top or the bus to the top and work your way down (included in your ticket/ferry price if you prepurchase your tickets). We opted to walk up from the lower entrance, and given it was a hot and steamy sydney morning, it was not very pleasant. In addition, most of the maps and signposting assume you are starting from the main entrance at the top. Felt that the trails were alittle confusing, in that all attractions should follow a set path, so there's no need to constantly consult the map to see where you are. As mentioned by other reviewers, the food is atrocious. simple stuff like chips and coffee turned out crap. Opt for the restaurant or bring your own food. Can't understand why a 'tourist' class establishment cannot invest in better food for the paying guests - its $44 per person for an adult admission and the food is not cheap too, so at least they can try to do a good job with it.

One of the best travel experiences available in Australia! Not the cheapest but certainly worth the money.

The Roar and Snore package includes a luxury tent complete with polished wooden floors, power points and stunning harbour/city views, an excellent night safari around the closed zoo and a behind the scenes tour of the zoo including feeding the giraffes and hiding food in the bear enclosure (the bear wasn't in with us!). Throw in dinner and a bunch of enthusiastic zoo keepers/workers and this is one fantastic experience.

If budget is a consideration, my personal opinion would be to save your money on the bridge climb (you can climb the bridge pylon for a nice view for around $10) and do the Taronga Roar and Snore for a unique overnight experience!!!!

A trip to the zoo by ferry from Circular Quay seemed to be the best choice of transport - fantastic views and i managed to take some pictures of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

Unfortunately we missed sky safari ride - it wasn't operating the day we decided to come to the zoo. A free bus picked us up (well, i think it is included in a pretty high price of the ticket).

We saw some "locals" in the zoo - kangaroos, koalas, tasmanian devils, wombats and platypus. There are also elephants, snow leopards, gorillaz, snakes and many kinds of birds. We appreciated show/keeper's talk concerning australians spiders - this knowledge is very useful in the city where the most dangerous spider in the world lives.
Sea show was great and funny.
Zoo is located on the hill so we enjoyed fabulous views while admiring giraffes and other animals.
There is a gift shop, food stands (they close quite early in the afternoon) and a coffee shop in the zoo.
It is a very well maintained zoo and a great place to spend a sunny afternoon.
