We travelled as a family of 4 with 2 aged 5 and 4. Arriving in Sydney domestically at 9:30pm, it was a short ten minute walk to the hotel. Check-in was super fast.

The rooms are VERY basic but that is what Formule 1 is. We had a comfortable double bed and the kids were fine with the bunk, although their beds needed to be made - linen folded on top. The bathroom was very basic but fulfilled needs.

There was a fair bit of noise into the evening until about midnight. Then the other early risers with flights woke us from 4am on, us rising about 5:15am to get to the international terminal for a 7:30am flight. A taxi phone at the desk allowed us to order our ride the night before and was faster and cheaper than the shuttle for four of us.

It is not somewhere I would choose if I was staying in Sydney but was fine for our transiting needs. The cost of the room was much less than the increased cost of our airfares to fly without an overnight transit.

we found the hotel to be very comfortable and clean and in a very handy location to the Sydney domestic airport. Lovely breakfast. Will use this hotel again.

This is the perfect place to stay if you're flying out early the next morning. You can leave your car here for a reasonable rate which compares well with the cost of long term parking at the airport. The distance from the domestic terminal is tiny so if you don't mind dragging your suitcase you can walk there! Why would you stay anywhere else? Highly recommended.

We stayed at this hotel so that we could catch an early international flight the next morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They organised extra blankets for us as well as bus transfers. We had a little trouble working out where the bus transfer would pick us up when we arrived in Sydney and what time. This is not on their website and there are no signs. We, plus other waiting guests, had to ring the hotel and ask. The room was appropriate for what we needed and at a great price.

The Formule 1 is an okay hotel to use when you’re spending the night in Sydney en route to other destinations. It provides a simple, clean room with a small bathroom which includes a shower. The rooms have a flat screen television and there’s also a laundry facility and ice machine on premises. The reception staff was friendly and polite both during our check-in and our check-out. If you’re using the International Terminal, it’s best to use Super Shuttle to reach the property (current cost is $6 AUD per person). If you’re using the Domestic Terminal, you can walk to/from the Formule 1. It’s immediately next door to a Krispy Kreme donut shop. Also, it’s only about a block away from a McDonald’s and a Kentucky Fried Chicken. If you don’t expect anything fancy, you won’t be disappointed.

Ug I do not have fond memories of this!
The staff were generally very friendly but the room was sooo stuffy I kept waking up feeling short of breath. There seems to be no fresh air coming in through the aircon - I might be wrong but it just seemed like a cooling/heating unit. You can't open a window of course and the room was so small it felt claustrophobic. By the look of the fire escape chart on the door we got the smallest room on the entire floor - which would have been more appropriate for a single person - not two! To make matters worse it had a (locked) connecting door to another room whose occupant seemed to check in about 11pm and kept having loud conversations on his mobile about every 2 hours until about 4am - which was very loud through the paper thin wall and not appreciated when we had to get up at 4.30am for a flight!
Not sure if it was the same offender, but the stuffy room was made heaps worse by the wafting smell of cigarette smoke several times in the night! (of course this is banned by the hotel)
The noise and smoke issue may have been something reception could have helped with but as there is NO PHONE in the room we would have to have got dressed and gone all the way down to the desk to ask for assistance......
The hotel did not appear to be at all full, and it would have been appreciated had they not put someone in the connecting room, or better still, NOT put us in a connecting room!
The toilet seat did not appear to have been cleaned.... yuk!
Also the toilet and shower are in the same area, no huge deal, but it felt like a campervan toilet/shower!
There wasn't even a hand towel provided for drying your hands... you had to use your shower towel.
NO tea, coffee or kettle etc.
REALLY BASIC hotel ...... avoid if possible!
On a positive note, there was a fridge in the common area for you to put things in if you wished, but as there are no food preparation facilities it's not really that helpful.

Room Tip: I am not sure but at least ask for the biggest room maybe, and NO connecting door! And maybe request...
