“Clean and efficient. But where's the warmth?”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Granted this is a hotel airport and the majority of guests are no doubt there for a short stay on their way to or from somewhere else. And in reality their really is nothing wrong with this hotel. The rooms are always clean, the bed comfortable and the lobby well presented.
But the hotel really lacks a touch of humanity, a bit of friendliness, or warmth or something in between. Some colour in the rooms or the hallways, or even some friendliness from the staff would be a good start.
A case in point during a recent stay was when a few colleagues found ourselves enjoying an evening drink in the downstairs bar, when we were promptly told the bar was closing. No 'last drinks' or no advanced warning, just we're closing, time to move on sort of thing. What I found most surprising was that it was only approaching 10pm.
In reality this is an airport hotel, it's attractiveness lies in its proximity to the airport and on that measure it does its job. For an overnight stay you could do a lot worse, but just don't expect too much more in the way of courtesy or personality.

Dear Andrew M,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review from your recent stay - thank you for acknowledging that the rooms are always clean, the bed comfortable and the lobby well presented. I have taken the opportunity to share the other comments with all of our colleagues at the hotel; we have a strong service culture at the hotel and it is very disappointing to read that the actions of one of our colleagues affected your perception of your stay - We have reviewed our approach in closing our bar area. I would love the opportunity to meet and discuss this with you in more detail on your next hotel visit.

This hotel is very convenient for the airport - it's very close and is great for a quick stopover. The hotel is large, clean, modern, and our room was a very good size with a powerful shower and comfy bed. The breakfast we had was plentiful and of decent quality. We did try some food in the bar but unfortunately it was frozen food reheated and didn't taste great - we even saw the chef in the open plan kitchen area remove our pizza from it's freezer container.

We arrived late at night and decided to get a taxi for the short ride to the airport. Unfortunately our taxi driver was not too happy about doing such a short journey and was not particularly friendly to us. You can book a transfer from the hotel to the airport and vice versa however at $6 this costs the same as a taxi (for two people) and is subject to up at a 45 minute wait.

All in all a good hotel and exactly what is needed for a short stopover.

Hotel is about 5 minutes in a bus from the international airport terminal at Sydney. I was arriving late in from Auckland on a Saturday evening and then had a early departure to Bangkok the following day so did not want to be in and out of town!!

The bus from the airport is free to the hotel but Aus$6 back payable at the hotel!

Hotel is large a typical entrance area, clean bright and airy. Check in was quick and easy as I am a IHG rewards member.

Room and bathroom were lovely and clean with comfortable bed. Went out like a light and woke up at 6 just before my "fall back wake up call". Showered and checked out before quick buffet breakfast as soon as resturant opened (6.30) and back to the aiport.

Great location for a short night for early morning flight. As it was a weekend, rate was reasonbale but don't know what the weekday rates are like?

If you have more time then probably better to go into Sydney so you can see some of the sights, but if time is limited a good choice.

You get what you would expect from a good 4* hotel.

However, as with the HI in Potts Point, another recent review of mind (from the same trip) the corridor walls are all cream, well maybe magnolia, but just PLAIN. At least here there were windows at both ends of he corridor here to brighten it up a bit but just blank walls.

You have some spectacular views in the harbour of the bridge and the opera house so why not "tart" up the walls a bit with some pictures, even the iron work of the bridge would be better than the bland walls, but what do I know!!!

Due to a cancelled flight I had the pleasure of being able to spend a night here.

The staff were very friendly.... especially as we were not booked in as such.

The hotel bar has the loveliest food. Huge portions.

Breakfast in the morning was delicious.

The rooms were big and very comfortable.

Wake up call great

Room Tip: Room on top floor ... great view. No noise heard from the airport.

I have stayed overnight here a number of times for business meetings at the airport and have always found it friendly and nice. While it is at the airport, it is a 15 minute walk to the domestic terminal and it annoys taxi drivers if you ask them to drive you even if you have luggage. Luckily there is a transit coach service from both terminals.

Most recently I was here for a stop over before an international flight. The transit coach was a bit slow to arrived but delivered me from the domestic terminal quite quickly. The return trip to the international terminal was fine (I booked it the night before).

The rooms are fine for an overnight trip and the breakfast OK. The staff are friendly and the rooms quiet.

Room Tip: You can get rooms facing the airport, which are nice.

I have expected better Service and food quality in the restaurant. The service needed 10 minutes to recognice me as a guest who wants to place an order.

Hotel is close to the Airport ( International Airport) but is not an Airport Hotel ( like Hilton in Rome or Frankfurt)

Dear Wolf1802,

Thank you for your review - We are located within the airport precinct and we use a shuttle company to service both the Domestic and International airports (these are 3 kilometers apart in Sydney). With regards to the food & Beverage experience, we have 2 separate food outlets. One offering a contemporary A-La-Carte Mediterranean menu and grills: this one is full service and the one you experienced during your stay: 'Biggles restaurant', the service is through the Bar - it is designed as a informal, sport oriented and fun dinning venue. I have reminded the team to brief people who may not be accustomed to this service style on check-in.
