“Probable needs retiring”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

Its had a face lift since last time i was there so it looks a little better. They have done away with the lizards and turned that area into a penguin habitat ... which is nicer.

Manly Sea Life Sancturary has always been the poor cousin to Sydney Aquarium... (MSLS) its OK for little kids, but just plain boring for the older ones.

Really they should retire this poor old attraction.

“Small but impactful. A must visit.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 18, 2012

Hubby and I, together with our boys (age 5 & 7) enjoyed a relaxing morning at Manly Sea Life Sanctuary. We drove over on a Monday morning and found easy street parking just outside it. After collecting our online tickets from the counter we headed straight for the penguin cove but got a little side tracked with the exhibits and our boys got held up at the rockpool. We made it in time for the Penguin Talk which was informative and well presented in the cozy beautiful penguin cove.

We like Manly Sea Life Santuary because it felt personal, less commercialised. Size-wise it was great because it meant the boys could go around on their own a few times without us losing them. Going on a week day meant less crowd and we could take more time at each exhibit. And lastly it was really good that we could leave and re-enter Manly Sea Life as we pleased which meant we could grab lunch at the cafe outside, play by the beach and re-enter again when the boys wanted to. Definitely a good day with the kids.

Tip: We bought our combo 5 pass from their website and I find it to be the cheapest online price. I got our combo 5 for a family of 4 at AUD216.

“Great little aquarium”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

Best aquarium I have visited for showing visitors what they are doing and how they work with the local area as well as the fish and penguins. Really good guides and talks. Fascinating tunnel to walk through with sharks overhead!

“Small but well worth the trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

Part of the experience has to start when you board the Manly Ferry for a leisurely trip over. Then there is the lovely walk along the beach to get there.
The aquarium itself is reasonably small but well worth a visit.

The cuttlefish display is lovely as is the number of Port Jackson sharks. The touch pool was popular with the kids and compared to other touch pools there was more to see, touch and they could reach much better. Even our one year old was easily able to handle the shark eggs and shells.

As always the walk-through aquarium was the highlight with a number of rays, sharks, turtles and fish. The kids were captivated watching the rays swimming around.
There was also a nice penguin display although it is probably better to see when there is feeding/handler talks.

The staff here seemed very friendly and eager to provide more information and seemed to interact with the kids more which made it much more fun for them.

We will definitely be back.

Note that it doesn't open until 10am - this caught us by surprise as we expected it would open earlier.
