Our experience started with a phone call informing us that our dive will be delayed by a couple of hours due to a problem with the boat.
Unfortunately for us we were already on the ferry to Manly. I didn’t hold them accountable for that as the [--] can hit the fan even for the best dive-shop on earth and it can happen on anyone’s shift. But the mess begun when we showed up again for the 2nd time two hours later. We got ready, packed our gear, loaded the van and headed to the boat rendezvous point at little manly cove. An hour passed by, and then another one, yet no sign of the boat. We made it clear from the beginning that we only had a day and a half in Sydney and had high hopes to finish the dive early so we can spend some time touring Sydney. So at a certain point Sharky, our dive guide, offered us to go back to the shop and get a refund yet he said he can't drive us to the shop since the boat may arrive any minute so we'll have to walk. We brought our own gear so we couldn't have simply walked and leave our gear behind. The distance to the dive-shop was about 1.2 KM, not to mention the fact that we weren't familiar with this area! So we stayed, waiting for the boat to arrive in "just few more minutes".
Two hours after reaching the beach, the boat finally arrived. And we were heading out for our dive.

When we tried on our gear at the dive-shop we asked if they are certain that 5mm will suffice for this dive, answer: "yes, that's what everybody wear, we don't have more than that anyway".
And then we hit the water. The temperature was 16C (61F), freezing cold. Wearing 5mm long john with an additional 3mm vest I had most of my body covered by no less than 13mm of neoprene and yet felt cold.
The dive itself was fine, we saw some sharks but stayed static for too long considering the water temperature.
When we surfaced a German girl who was with us lost hands functionality and had few fingers turning yellow. All the other divers were in different states of shaking. Yet Sharky insisted that everything is fine and we can move on to the 2nd dive. I am personally less sensitive to the cold so decided to join the 2nd dive. The bottom time was preset to no more than 20 mins because if the water temperature. It gave me the feeling that this dive’s purpose was to avoid refunds. My wife decided she had too much for one day and stayed on the boat, she didn’t stop shaking until we got back to the dive-shop almost two hours later.
Our second dive was just like the first one, freezing. Towards the end of the dive a big blue groper approached our guide as if he knows him, an impressive site for all opinions. But the surprise came when our guide picked up a sea orchid from one of the rocks, flipped it upside down and fed the groper with it. I expected more than that from a marine biologist working for the Discovery Channel. And the explanation on the boat that gropers eat sea orchids anyway did not convince me because I might not be a marine biologist but I am quite certain that the gropers work very hard to get a sea orchid ready for lunch.
The one thing we can say in favor of the Manly Dive Centre is that they partially refunded one dive for my wife after we complained.
Bottom line: Not recommended!

We went here to do a couple of boat dives. They supply you with new dive gear for your dive and also guide the dives. We really enjoyed both dives and saw a lot of underwater life including a few sharks. We will be back when we visit Sydney again.
