The nicest place we visited on our holiday in Australia. This is fantastic place to visit with a fascinating history behind it. The small museum is really interesting and the staff in the cafe and restaurant were brilliant. The small beach is lovely and very quiet when we were there. We went for a look round the buildings and at the inscriptions in the sandstone. It is a credit to whoever saved the place and turned it into what it is today. Please keep it just as it is!

Before we took the afternoon tour of the Quarantine Station we ate at the restaurant - awesome food. Best meal we had on our trip.

Great location, close to Manly beach. Once you arrive you feel as though you are a million miles away from the city and busy beach life. A fantastic retreat, conference venue or weekend getaway. Beautiful scenery and incredible history.

Now, whilst the Q-Station was, in itself very very cool, the same cannot be said about the so called 'Ghost Tour'.

It was literally a woman herding us around buildings, muttering on about complete nonsense, asking the 'ghosts' "if they had a nice day?" and looking an a gadget which may or may not change to orange or red. It was ludicrous. And to think that this lasted almost 3 hours is a joke. I believe the guides name was Marilyn, and whilst she did, on occasions, offer some insightful snippets of history the whole set up was a sham. I feel like I wasted $150 because there was no show or theatre, in fact little effort put into the organisation of it at all.

And we didn't even go on the host tour....
We didn't realize the actual facility was so large and busy constantly hosting conferences etc. The Quarantine Station is fascinating especially when you read about the millions of people who passed through there over the years and how their lives were affected. The carvings on the walls commemorate some of the ships that landed there and lists the names of people on board. The exhibition is really well done and depicts the history of the station and the many diseases treated there. Well worth the visit.
