Our family (h&w, three kids 15,13 and 11) stayed for two night in a three bed cottage with a harbour view. The location and view from the cottage was great, and the cottage does come with very nice amenities (crisp beds, bath robes, fridge, m/w, very large tv).
The breakfast buffet had a good selection of fresh fruit side. The warm food selection was adequate in a traditional full English breakfast way. The buffet does not however have a cook there for example to prepare omelettes etc. The beach was also good for a swim, and the museum down there was interesting.
The guest lounge was adequate with a small selection of newspapers and a computer for internet access. The computer even had a printer attached, which would have been a nice touch had someone replaced the ink. In today's age of remote check in by smart phone or internet it would have been useful (and saved us a good bit of time at the airport) had the printer been working.
The printer is probably just one example of a great location let down by a lack of focus on customer needs. We were paying around $800 per night for the cottage, yet the place also wanted to charge an exorbitant amount for wireless internet access and movies. If they had a full range of tv channels with foxtel I could understand charging for a film and internet, but the selection was limited. I also had asked them (albeit on Australia Day) to re[;ace a globe in one of the bathrooms, as the only way to illuminate the bathroom was with the heat light. That is not particularly pleasant on a hot, humid Sydney day. No globe ever arrived, and we had a very hot and unpleasant shower.
The final straw triggering this review came after we left. I discovered I had left an electric tooth brush behind, so called the hotel and asked them to post it to me. I noted their initial reluctance and so offered to pay the postage. I thought it would be less expensive simply to let them charge my credit card for the postage, but the hotel insisted on sending the package cash on delivery, which I am sure was far more expensive and hugely inconvenient for me, a customer who had just spent $1600 staying there! Really poor customer service.
