“Good value good food in a nice pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2012

The Portico restaurant is great value and the food is of a good quality. Good for groups or families and if you want to make a night of it the Greengate is next door. The restaurant has recently been refurbed and the space is very nice. You can sit inside or out which is great s the weather improves
We regularly eat here and have enjoyed the food. Service can be a bit patchy but at an average of $25 for a good main you cant expect 1 or 2 hat service standards> Reasonable wine list and reasonable prices. One of the bet options in the area

“Family Outing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2012

We visit here about once a month with the family as its walking distance. Good meal for adults and children alike, not pretentious. Reasonable price without alcohol. Never had any issues with the fact the pub/bistro is next door.

“Well priced, meal high standard of service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2011

I was impressed with the service I received at the Greengate I travelled from South Australia and this was just one place Myself and 4 teenagers had to have dinner. Now I am not sure what side was what as the building is huge, Entertainment from Cam was excellent it was a Sunday evening and not used to the strict rules for teenagers within Pubs in NSW while having what is what I call a counter meal, the kids weren't even aloud to see the bar let alone go anywhere near it. so the position we had our meal was cut off from the general patrons. and it was hard to see the entertainment. Parking facilities were excellent Well done Greengate

Went to Portico at the Greengate hotel for lunch on a sunny Thursday afternoon with 3 collegues. The fact that it was nearly empty should have been a clue.

The service was woeful. It took 3 selections from the wine list to find one which they actually had in stock (note this is a restaurant in a pub!) and that came with rude and arrogant service from the bar manager.

The food was an absolute disgrace. We ordered a couple of tapas plates - 6 different selections in all and not one of them was up to the standard you would expect from the $50 price tag. The quality of the food was worse than you would expect from a food court in a shopping centre. The tapas were either oily and limp, dry and rubbery or just plain stodgy. Three food lovers left a considerable amount of food on the plate - that says it all.

When we paid our bill of $110 (tapas, a bottle of wine and two beers) we commented to the manager how disappointed we were with the whole experience. He obviously doesn't take critisism well - he just walked away and didn't come back.

Don't waste your time or your money - go elsewhere, we will in future.
