I recently attended a wedding reception at cafe Birkenhead. We started at 6 PM and the ambience of the place was fabulous.
The brides theme was white & gold and the cafe was laid out spendidly.
it has a pretty large dance floor where about 40 of us were able to easliy & comfortable dance without worring about stepping on anyones toes. They also set up a small stage area where we had the MC & DJ.
As soon as you enter there was a dias with the seating plan to find your place easily. And the guest book was also convienently located.
The lighting was perfect for an evening wedding.
On arrival we were serv4d champagne & waiters came around with the most scrumptious startes. They were small but waiters went around to serve frequently. the meat balls and the mini spring rolls in particular were most delicious among the starteds.
The next course was the entree. Pumpkin soup & salads alternated. I got teh pumpkin soup which was great. The kids were served a kiddies meal of Fish & chips and they loved it.
For the main course we had alrenating places chicken and barramundi. i had the barramundi which so done to perfection although i would have been happier with a slightly larger portion.. i also hear the chicken was pretty good.
Dessert was wedding cake (not from the cafe) served with fruit platters. The fruit was welcome considering the stifling heat of the day and all that dancing.
The staff at Cafe birkenhead are very friendly & accomodating and even helped me mend my shoe sole which came apart during dancing.
All in all we all had a great time & I'd recommed thsi place to anyone considering having a wedding in the city/Drummoyne area of Sydney
