We recently stayed here while visiting family in Sydney. The owner /manager Rob was so friendly and helpful. We were in once were the stables and had our ensuite and separate lounge area.Everthing was so clean and small person touches like diffuser sticks instead of overpowering toilet deodorisers .So close to great food places in Victoria Road and in walking distance to the shops in Darling Street. Will definitely stay there again.

Many thanks Sharyn & Peter. Having a nice place is 50% the location and decoration, but it is dead without nice people, such as you both, to occupy and share it with.

for a short stay The Admiral Clooingwood did not disapoint. Its graet big restored victorain mansion. Its a few mins walking distance to local pubs and restaurants and an easy 7 min walk to the sailing club with views over the harbour. Buses to and from the city ar e around the corner on Victoria rd. The double room was spacious and in period format the bed and linen provided were of good quality and the bed was so comfy. There is a shared herb garden that is pleasant to sit in and comunal kitchen, but why use the kitchen when local bakeris and cafe./restaurants a re good. The only draw back is the is no bathroom in the room only a sink, having said this there are several bathrooms to share and each is spotless and well maintained. In the words of Arnold " I'll be back"

Room Tip: the new garden cttage rooms have their own ensuite, but you loose out on staying in a wonderful peri...

Many thanks for your kind review Chookybird. Yes, the garden and the herbs are a delight. But the herbs are growing too big and too fast. Guests who go out and enjoy the local restaurants (good as they indeed are), do not assist in keeping the herbs down. They are here for use - not just aroma and appearance.

Stayed here with family for 2 nights. Clean, cozy and deco with great taste. Music is great when the owner is at work. Public area is clean, spacious and beautiful. You can tell that the owner managed it very well.

Walter seems not that easy going with such a big group of us. But everything is ok. You can get his help or advise if you need. It feels like a great place to leave if you want some privacy. Parking is free along the street.

This place was one of the nicest accommodations we have been to. Booked for 3 nights but ended up staying 5. The kitchen/garden combination is great and it is great for having breakfast and dinner. Our room didn't have a toilet but that was not a problem and we never had to wait to use the common toilets (which were very clean btw). It's only 15-25min from the city center and the staff was very friendly. Only thing that bothered was airplanes flying low over the suburb during the day. Would stay here again if I ever return to Sydney.

Many thanks for your kind positive review. We do hope you come back. You will be welcome

One of the downsides of Sydney having an airport so conveniently located close to the City centre is that airplane noises (when the wind is in the wrong direction) are generously shared all over inner Sydney.

We had thought of issuing guests with heat-seeking missiles for these bad days, but it seems the Authorities might disapprove.

Love your identity picture - may I assume it is not in Singapore?

I stayed for 2 weeks having relocated from the UK for work, and stayed in the Garden suite. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. There is a full shared kitchen which has all the facilities you need - the help yourself herbs in the garden area is a really nice touch.

The management are very friendly and will help with any requests.

Location is also very good, being close to local amenities and around 10-15 minutes from the city by bus.

Overall I would highly recommend.

If I had to use only few words I would say lovely home away from home.
The lodge is cozy, the kitchen is big and full of everything you may need while you are there, bathrooms are perfumed and very clean (in three weeks it never happened to wait for a bathroom to be vacant!!), rooms are big enough and nicely furnished, beds are comfortable (for warmer nights we used the fan and slept perfectly!). It's easy to get to supermarkets or restaurants either at a walking distance or in the CBD.. what else? the beautiful backyard you can enjoy in sunny days, a laundry, free wifi....
basically you get the comfort of an hotel, feeling at home!
I would definitely recommend it for a relaxing weekend, as a place to stop and rest for travelers, as a starting point for your stay in Sydney, as a place for couples or for families.. whatever the reason that brings you to Sydney I'd heartily recommend the Lodge. It's in a quite and safe area and in just a few minutes you can reach the crowded city centre, or the beaches.. busses to the city centre run every 5 minutes!
Can't forget to mention the awesome Walter!! He literally took care of us since we first enter the lodge, giving precious suggestions and advice to better exploit our time in sydney (thank you very much-a!! =))

Fantastico!
We love guests like you - so hope more will come and you will come again. However we worry that people will think we are perfect, and we (sadly) are not. We do try our best. Thank you for your comments regarding our Manager Walter - he will be delighted.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this delightful lodge. The main house is full of character - I was staying in a single room which was large and very well equipped with flat screen tv, large fridge and wash basin. The many bathrooms were well cleaned each day and I thought the little jars of fesh flowers were a lovely touch. The garden and terrace area were beautifully kept...the perfect place to relax (with a complimentary cup of fresh coffee or squeezed orange juice!) after a busy day of sightseeing! Bus connection into the city was frequent and fast - I regularly caught buses back well after midnight. The lodge had a lovely homely atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful when I had any queries. I can't recommend the Admiral Collingwood highly enough!
