We had creative fish dishes for $40 each. But they were very small and had to pay extra for any Veges chips or salad. The food was original in its combinations, but way overpriced. Service was efficient notwithstanding the negative posts.

Headed along to this restaurant last night and was underwhelmed overall. We booked a table at the more upmarket section at the back. Service was below par and with all mains priced at $46 it's certainly on the pricey side. At $46 that only included the fish with whatever sauce/flavour accompaniments that came with that dish, no veggies, salad or fries. Oddly, they do offer sides but they're not included in the menu, you have to ask for the details. I am open to paying more for special meals and quality service but I think Fish Face should either drop its prices by $5-$10 or improve the overall package they provide. I wouldn't recommend or return as there are much better fish restaurants in town.

We went on Saturday night (12 March) with high expectations and dined in the restaurant (there are 2 sections - front and rear). The quality of the food was excellent - first rate. But the service - it was truly shocking. The male waiter forgot us even though the restaurant was only half full. We waited a full 10 minutes for the menus and wine list - first sin. The wine came to the table with the screw cap removed - second sin. The waited replenished our wine once only all night - third sin. We had to "beg" for our water glasses to be refilled - fourth sin.
And the female waitress - other diners were waving their hands in the air to get her attention, and she walked past our table oblivious to the requests for more water. And her "tats" - quite frankly they were unsightly all over her exposed arms - cheap and gaudy, and not at all tasteful. Sort of "bogun" really. No tip was left and this would be the first time we have done that in Sydney.
The meal was expensive and not fair value for money.

Been there now several times. The food is fantastic and the service good. There is a large selection to choose from.
We were told the restaurant in the back would be opening in January but has not as yet happened. Booking is therefore a problem in that they currently don't take bookings past 7:00pm.
The wine list is very limited (no BYO) and prices are ridiculously high.
Notwithstanding this, we'll be back.

I hooked up with a food snapper from Paris for lunch this month, thinking where could I take her that was really excellent and a reminder of her youth in Oz.

Knowing Josh Niland is at the helm as I had worked with him at Four Seasons "The Woods", we flapped into Fish Face mid week. Jammed! Tall tables, tall chairs, blonde light interiors, cheerful staffers. Josh's team spirit obvious in the open kitchen.

Green tomato soup with white anchovies.. sheer perfection

As fish n chips is always the marque we ordered by 2. Fabulous battered fish, and a divine salad.

And the dessert! A burnt vanilla meringue with roasted stone fruit. Amazing. I had the lion's share as Josh and my snapper friend were engrossed in the merits of vanilla

Such a happy room. Looking forward to trying the dining section at the back of the venue soon.
