The concept of fresh fish and a matrix of what accompanies it ranging from the humble but mighty chip through to the exotic taste of chermoula infused sides should make this a simple 5 out of 5. As we all know with a statement like that there is always a but, and here's the but... It was my wife's birthday and somehow your expectations seem to become a little bit more lofted and the whole package for this occasion just didn't make this a simple 5 out of 5 experience. I would not say the experience was bad, and it certainly was above average but it would be hard to say it was very good either. So without a half star and getting caught up in the occasion I'm erring on 3 out of 5. My wife's king prawn starter looked a little sad and the prawns were more princely in size than kingly. I asked for the salt and pepper squid to be served with fresh lime rather than chilli jam and the slice of lime that accompanied the dish was far more appropriate for inserting into a bottle of Mexican beer than providing a sufficient lime hit for the entree. The salt and pepper flavor seemed a bit bland, and it could have used the lime or chilli jam. We had the mirror dory for mains and it was fresh, succulent and nicely grilled. The sides were pleasant and the service efficient. So it was an easy meal to enjoy and eat without raving about it. The wine list was functional albeit with the near industry standard of a 200% mark up. I shall come back when the pressure on the place for supplying that special birthday pizzazz is removed for a 'no buts' review.

Been here a few times and always impressed by the sheer quality and care in preparation of beautiful food. Not expensive but great service, good concept, you choose your fish and then the style it is cooked, great presentation and superb flavour. Sat outside where they shield you off from the road a bit, never intrusive, they have heaters for the cooler times. What more can be said? BYO, good bottle shop at the top of the road, cheese board good, I will be going back!

Went for a business lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how great the food was.
Love the daily specials and being able to choose the fish, then the sauce and sides. Lots of great options and it was all really fresh and well presented.
Not that expensive for the quality you get.

I wasn't expecting that much as I perceived Garfish as a 'chain' however the food and service were excellent.

I had a lovely lunch with my wife and mother and everyone was very happy with the food, service and setting. The Snapper Pie is delicious and worthy of the reputation. I had a grilled Mirror Dory with kaffir lime leaf beure blanc and mash. It was pretty sensational actually, though not at all fussy.

Reasonably priced, simple & clean setting; perfect for a business lunch actually - but equally enjoyed by friends and family.

Good work Garfish.
