So long as you drop any expectations of a fine dining experience, the Himalayan Char Grill is a real gem. A small restaurant, with a kitchen so small you wonder how the staff can turn out the meals, in a fairly drab suburban shopping centre, you could be forgiven for walking right past without giving it a second look. Fool you, if you do.
The food is very flavoursome and the servings generous enough. The lamb backstrap is a lovely dish but if you want a real melt-in-the-mouth meal it has to be the beef cheek. Service is friendly and very attentive.
Prices are OK. At first blush some would suggest that $20 for a main is a bit steep. That hesitation is put to rest as soon as you sample the food!
Just accept that you aren't there for the view...
