Friends decided to get together to share a recent birthday celebration, and my wife suggested that we choose an Asian restaurant. Friends, who had dined at HaNa Ju-Rin several times and lived nearby, made the recommendation and reservation. I checked out the website and menu ahead of time and found it to be comprehensive and very interesting. We enjoy Japanese cuisine, especially sashimi, but on this occasion decided on the sushi course, a set-menu at $68pp. It meant that we didn't need to worry about deciding between competing interests, and as it was our first visit allowed us to sample dishes that we might not have chosen. It also meant that we were able to catchup in conversation having not been out together for several months.

Most of the diners were Japanese - always a good sign in any specialist restaurant. By observing the mix of diners, and their food choices, gave us the option of checking out their selections. The quality of food, presentation, and quantity was exceptional - their selections as well as ours. While the pacing of dishes was not always spaced as evenly as our consumption, it meant that we had a constant choice of what to sample next. Each course was a delight, and it would be difficult to select the best. Personally, I found the kobachi, chawanmushi with seafood, assorted sushi and scampi miso soup to be my preferences. Not everyone was able to finish their course, and so I enjoyed some bonus sushi!!! No complaints from me there and even more incentive to return! LOL! And return in the near future we will - I am very keen to try the sashimi platter .... and the lunch sho-ka-do-bento looks pretty good too.
